James Wilson, Manchester United Agree to New Contract: Latest Details, Reaction
Manchester United announced on Friday that young forward James Wilson has signed a new contract with the club, with the new deal running until June of 2019 and including an option for an additional year.
The news was confirmed via the Red Devils' official website, with the 19-year-old expressing his delight at signing a new contract:
"I have been at United since I was seven years old and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far. Growing up at the club has been an incredible experience and I feel it stands me in good stead for continuing my development as a Manchester United player. I am delighted to have signed a new contract and look forward to playing a part in the team for many years to come.

A product of United's vaunted youth academy, Wilson has been one of the youth setups biggest stars for years. He dominated in the under-18 league and the reserves and was given his first start at the end of the 2013-14 season, scoring a brace on his debut against Hull City.
Fans will be delighted to hear one of the club's top prospects now looks set to continue his career at Old Trafford, as Wilson's future has been hotly debated in the past couple of months.
The youngster hardly featured last season and hasn't seen his luck turn in 2015-16, and the arrival of Anthony Martial only further complicates matters.
Goal's Kris Voakes wonders what manager Louis van Gaal has in store for him:
"So what now for Wilson? In Monday's 3-1 U-21 Premier League win over Everton, he was in excellent form. Within 22 minutes he had a well-taken goal and a clever assist under his belt, but rather than being withdrawn early to save him for a big date with Ipswich he was left on to see out the full 90 minutes.
"
It is exactly eight months since Wilson last started a game for Manchester United, in a 0-0 draw against Cambridge in the FA Cup, while his 17-minute substitute appearance against Hull in May was his last sight of a first-team shirt.
The new deal seems to answer that question. While Wilson hasn't played much since Van Gaal took control of the club, it's easy to forget he's still just 19 years old―he has plenty of time left to develop into the superstar he seems destined to become.
As shared by the club's official Twitter account, Van Gaal plans to take his time with the youngster before making a decision on whether to loan him out or not:
Regardless of whether he stays for the duration of this season or not, Wilson's future seems secure now that the club has decided to extend his previous deal. Patience will remain key for the young star, but given his obvious talent, he will have his chance to impress for the senior squad soon enough.
