WWE SmackDown Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from September 24

Erik BeastonSep 25, 2015

The ongoing issues surrounding Kane and Seth Rollins dominated Thursday's episode of SmackDown, The Big Red Director of Operations from Hell (or something like that) continuing to play mind games with the WWE world heavyweight champion as he eyes both vengeance and the top prize in the sport.

Kane was brilliant as he kicked off the show, mixing an innocent, smiling yes man with a demonic force hell bent on ending Rollins.

The way he pleaded ignorance to Rollins' claims that he was the demon who tried to pull him to hell on Monday night was fantastic. It proved that, although he may no longer be the in-ring performer he once was, he is as great a character actor as he has ever been.

Rollins, to his credit, displayed some tremendous facial expressions and body language as he sold his fear and frustration over Kane's recent actions.

The idea of the veteran of 20 years challenging for the world championship may not be appealing to every fan, but with Brock Lesnar and Undertaker headlining Hell in a Cell, there is less pressure on Rollins and Kane to deliver. Instead, they can tell the story they started last April and pay it off with a championship clash that, to this point, has been well built by the oft-maligned WWE Creative.

Kane and Rollins were the biggest winners from this week's SmackDown, but not every Superstar was as lucky.

Who were the undisputed losers from Thursday's broadcast? Let's take a look.

Losers: Neville and Lucha Dragons

If you did not know that the feud between Neville and Stardust is a midcard one, look no further than the way the trio was treated Thursday night as it battled The New Day in a Six-Man Tag Team match.

Despite hitting some dazzling offense and jaw-dropping high spots, they were unceremoniously dispatched by Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods.

After picking up a big win over The Cosmic Wasteland on Raw, the former NXT champions were reminded of their place in the grand scheme of things.

Where this leaves them going forward is a mystery, though the likelihood of their rivalry with Stardust and The Ascension continuing, all the while the WWE Universe refuses to take them seriously while Creative struggles to figure out why, is strong.

Loser: Charlotte

For the current Divas champion to continue to evolve as a character and titleholder, WWE Creative must move past the fact that Charlotte is the daughter of the legendary Ric Flair. Right now, she is among the most uninteresting personas in the entire division, her fan perception aided only by her status as the champion.

Paige's pipe-bomb promo, coupled with the re-emergence of Natalya, the fantastic Sasha Banks and supreme heel Nikki Bella have Charlotte looking like the undefined character she is.

Being the offspring of one of the greatest wrestlers of all time will get one certain perks, but at some point, he or she must become more. Charlotte has not, at least to this point, and it was painfully apparent Thursday night.

Winner: Kevin Owens

One of the most consistently booked stars on the roster, the new intercontinental champion was brilliant Thursday night, turning in another strong performance and staying true to his character.

No longer willing to face diminishing odds, Owens walked out on partner Rusev, leaving The Bulgarian Brute to endure the punishment of Ryback.

It was not the first time that Owens has left Rusev high and dry, and to see WWE Creative remember that fact and play off of it was a nice touch. If the writing staff continues to handle Owens correctly, it could still salvage a young star who should have beaten John Cena for the United States Championship.

And in the process, elevate an IC title that has been mishandled and underutilized for far too long.
