WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from September 23
For two years, Eva Marie has existed in the WWE Universe only as the star of Total Divas. There was no identifiable character to speak of, nor was there any reason to connect with her outside of the "All Red Everything" catchphrase and the fact she is incredibly beautiful.
On Wednesday night, that began to change thanks to the manipulation of an NXT official. That development led to Eva Marie emerging from the broadcast as the night's biggest winner, an honor not typically reserved for the former collegiate soccer player.
Her victory over Carmella demonstrated improvement on the part of the fiery redhead, who looked much more comfortable bumping around the squared circle and even displayed in-ring charisma, mocking her opponent's catchphrase and drawing even more heat from the NXT Universe.

Was she perfect? Absolutely not. There is still a long way to go before she can be taken seriously as an in-ring performer. The fact she showed considerable improvement over the last time she appeared on NXT television, though, is encouraging.
That she is part of an angle in which a crooked official is intentionally, and controversially, not counting her shoulders down is even better because it will only add to the already immense hatred the fans have for her.
With the Divas division in NXT in flux following the departures of Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch, Eva Marie's continued development is key to the sustainability of women's wrestling in the brand.
Who else joined Eva Marie as a winner, and which Superstars emerged as losers from Wednesday's broadcast?
Let's take a look.
Winner: Asuka
Japanese star Asuka not only made her debut Wednesday night but was instantly catapulted into a program with Emma and Dana Brooke, the premiere full-time heels on the NXT brand.
She was full of energy as she took to the squared circle, obviously excited to be in the States and part of the hottest brand in professional wrestling. As she was demeaned and insulted by the resident mean girls, though, she dejectedly walked up the ramp, leaving fans to wonder why this exciting newcomer was so willing to do as her peers said by leaving the ring.
But then she stopped and flashed an oh-so-evil smile, one that both frightened Emma and Dana and left the viewing audience wondering what fresh hell the heels may have unleashed on both themselves and NXT as a whole.
Asuka made an immediate impact, one that fans will undoubtedly be excited and interested in seeing the follow-up to.
Loser: Bull Dempsey
Bull Dempsey's loss to Tyler Breeze on Wednesday night felt, initially, like the latest chapter in their budding rivalry. Instead, the announcement that Prince Pretty will square off with Apollo Crews at TakeOver: Respect suggests the Bull Fit competitor has lost his feud with the Gorgeous One and is once again left to maneuver around NXT aimlessly.
Dempsey appeared to be making great strides as a worker and character, so to see him so unceremoniously beaten is disappointing.
Whether he can recover and the person he is programmed against going forward will dictate just how successful he will be in the short term.
Winner: Tyler Breeze
Prince Pretty has become something of an elder statesman for NXT, the standard-bearer for any and all stars to come through the developmental brand.
Recently, he has tested the likes of Bull Dempsey and Jushin "Thunder" Liger, and now, at TakeOver: Respect, he will meet Apollo Crews in singles competition.
Breeze is a unique character in that he is not nearly serious enough to make a major splash on the main roster. In fact, were he to debut on Raw or SmackDown, he would likely go the way of Bo Dallas and Adam Rose, two former marquee names in NXT who have been tossed aside and jobbed into oblivion.
In NXT, he has the respect of management to the point they feel comfortable putting him in position to work with any veterans interested in coming into NXT for the night or any new faces making their way up the ranks.
In many ways, that is a much better and more effective use of Breeze than allowing him to fade into the background on the main roster.
