Sting Comments on Injury, Future with WWE

Joseph ZuckerSep 23, 2015

Sting didn't explicitly say that he'll never wrestle again in WWE, but it would seem any potential in-ring return for the legendary Superstar is a long way down the road as he recuperates from Night of Champions.

In an interview with Greg Adkins for WWE.com, Sting opened up about the injury he suffered in his match with Seth Rollins and what it could mean for his wrestling career going forward.

Sting said his neck is still a bit stiff but that he feels fine otherwise, which is a surprise given the scary nature of the situation Sunday, as he described to Adkins:

"

I was out in the hospital — out like a light. They had a neck brace on me, and they were pumping me with [medication] to get me out of pain. I had to do a CT scan and an MRI. They ended up talking to my wife, and I have some details from my wife, but I still have [further evaluation ahead]. They mentioned cervical spinal stenosis, but that’s only part of what I heard. I don’t know if there’s anything else. The doctor did tell my wife, “He’s going to have to get this dealt with. He’s lucky he walked out of there.”

"

Sting added that he had numbness in both arms during the match, and that numbness spread to his legs, which is when he fell to his knees late in the match and needed WWE medics to look at him.

The six-time WCW champion took a number of scary bumps, including his leap onto Rollins on the outside, a turnbuckle powerbomb and this shove onto one of the announce tables, per the WWE:

When asked whether his clash with Rollins will be his last WWE match, Sting declined to offer a definitive answer.

"I hate it when I'm asked that question because the answer truly is a question mark, and the question mark is as bold as it could ever be at this point," he said, per Adkins.

As great as it is to see Sting in a WWE ring, you don't want it to come at a major cost to his health. He has nothing left to prove in professional wrestling, so there's no reason for him to push his body past its physical limits.

Between Sting's injury scare and The Undertaker's medical issues after his matches with Brock Lesnar, it wouldn't be a surprise if WWE scaled back its usage of older Superstars going forward.
