Mattingly Reportedly Joins Marlins on Four-Year Deal

"The Miami Marlins have hired Don Mattingly to be their next manager, according to a person with knowledge of the situation who is not yet authorized to speak publicly," reported Molly Knight of Vice Sports. "Mattingly's deal is for four years, according to the source. He will be the club's eighth manager since 2010. The Marlins are thought to be waiting until after the World Series to make a formal announcement."
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman confirmed Knight's report.
The progress comes after Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reported on Tuesday that the manager's interview went well.
Mattingly and the Los Angeles Dodgers parted ways on Oct. 22, per Heyman.
Bowa Lands 2nd Interview with Marlins
Wednesday, Oct. 14
Larry Bowa, bench coach of the Philadelphia Phillies, will have a second interview with Miami, according to Rosenthal.
Cora to Interview for Marlins Job
Tuesday, Oct. 13
Alex Cora, who is currently serving as an ESPN analyst, has interviews lined up with the Marlins, San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals, per Rosenthal.
Acta on Marlins' Radar

Frisaro initially reported Dusty Baker and Manny Acta are candidates for the position, though a source later told Frisaro that Baker was not a candidate yet. The club interviewed Acta on Tuesday.
Acta, 46, last managed the Cleveland Indians from 2010 to 2012. He went 214-266 (.446 winning percentage) in Cleveland, failing to make the postseason in all three years before being let go late in the 2012 season. Before Cleveland, Acta had a largely unsuccessful run with the Washington Nationals, going 158-252 (.385 winning percentage) while finishing no higher than fourth place in the NL East.
