WWE Night of Champions 2015: Top Talking Points Following Major Event

Aaron BowerSep 21, 2015

It was a mostly successful evening for WWE's Night of Champions pay-per-view, which means that hopes are high heading forward for the company.

A surprise return and a couple of interesting results on the night have set things up intriguingly moving forward, with plenty of championships changing hands in the process.

Naturally, there are plenty of talking points for fans to sink their teeth into as the fallout from the show continues, but here are three in particular which are well worth noting.

Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker Rematch Tease

It was slipped in quietly by WWE via a Paul Heyman voiceover promo, but those with sharp ears will have heard the announcement for a mouthwatering match at Hell in a Cell next month.

As if Brock Lesnar's match against Undertaker at SummerSlam wasn't enough, we're going to a get a third chapter of this feud a lot sooner than many expected.

With Undertaker tying it up at one win each following that controversial result at SummerSlam, it was expected we'd have to wait until next year's WrestleMania for another meeting. However, Heyman revealed that Lesnar and Taker will lock horns as soon as next month inside Hell in a Cell.

Quite how heavy the build for this match will be in the weeks before Hell in a Cell is unclear, but you would expect a fairly imminent return to television for Lesnar after a brief period away following SummerSlam.

But the news was certainly one of the standout announcements and developments of the night and has already created a real buzz for Hell in a Cell.

Seth Rollins on a Collision Course With Kane

Another match, another WWE World Heavyweight Championship retention for Seth Rollins.

He managed to see off Sting in a bruising and fairly entertaining main event, then survived a potential cash-in by Sheamus thanks to the return of Kane.

With Sting likely to step away from WWE TV for a while again now, the is door open for a new challenger for the champion. In all probability, it seems certain that the challenger will be Kane.

The return of the old Kanethe mask-wearing, ruthless aggressor rather than the suit-wearing corporate stoogeat least gives a new dynamic to the tension we'd seen between Rollins and Kane before he was written off TV by Brock Lesnar.

Expect Kane to be pushed into the role of No. 1 contender for Rollins' title as soon as Monday's edition of Raw, as The Authority looks to throw its weight behind Rollins as its unanimous and undisputed face.

What will be most interesting to see, however, is how Kane settles back into his old gimmick. If he can demonstrate anything like the form he's shown throughout his lengthy career with WWE, this might just be a rivalry that works.

What Next for Sting?

It's now two pay-per-view appearances and two losses for Sting after his defeat to Seth Rollins.

The Icon was in pretty good condition at Night of Champions, throwing himself around impressively and belying his age on numerous occasions.

But he looked pretty spent by the end of the match and suffered what seemed to be a legitimate injury toward the end, when Rollins threw him into the corner of the ring.

It's probably wise to expect Sting to take another break from WWE now, before taking stock and coming back for his next rivalry, likely around the start of next year in anticipation of WrestleMania season.

But how WWE moves forward with him from this loss is unclear. It's bizarre that despite finally managing to land Sting after years of trying, the company is showering him with PPV defeats.

His next move will be very interesting.
