Hell in a Cell 2015: Full Card Predictions After WWE Night of Champions
WWE Hell in a Cell 2015 is going to look like a tweaked version of Night of Champions. The upcoming pay-per-view is poised to feature rematches aplenty, only with some key changes.
Add a table. Switch out an ally. Have a champion and challenger trade roles.
It was clear by the end of Sunday's pay-per-view that Night of Champions did not resolve many of WWE's rivalries; the event instead exasperated fans.
Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose still have The Wyatt Family in their target sights. The New Day isn't done with The Dudley Boyz. And Kevin Owens is going to have to make it through The Big Guy to make sure his Intercontinental Championship reign isn't over in the blink of an eye.
WWE has already announced on its official website that Brock Lesnar will meet Undertaker inside the Hell in a Cell structure.
What other bouts can fans expect? What other showdowns will WWE build toward in the coming weeks?
Foreshadowing from Night of Champions and projections for current storylines will help provide answers.
Charlotte vs. Paige (Divas Championship)
1 of 7There is no way that Charlotte's teammates won't be jealous of her success.
Becky Lynch and Paige had to stand at ringside and play cheerleader as Charlotte dethroned Nikki Bella at Night of Champions. Tension between PCB is inevitable. That will help WWE solve the issue of Bella fatigue.
After holding the Divas title since last November, fans have seen plenty of Nikki on top. Don't expect her to disappear, but after getting a rematch on Raw in the next week or two, she should step off center stage to set up a new rivalry.
Paige is the ideal foe for Charlotte. She's better and more experienced in the ring than the new champ, giving Charlotte someone to lean on as she continues her rapid development. The fact that both women rely on submissions make for an intriguing bout as well.
With Hell in a Cell a full five weeks away, WWE has time to allow Paige to turn on her friend and force her way into the title picture, a vicious heel juxtaposed with the valiant warrior who is Charlotte.
John Cena vs. Chris Jericho (United States Championship)
2 of 7Chris Jericho surprised Houston fans when he joined forces with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns. By the end of his battle alongside these fan favorites, Jericho's actions seemed to signal that a heel turn is on its way.
Jericho pushed past his partners and refused to talk to Tom Phillips backstage.
That all sounds like a man heading away from babyface status. Should he make the switch, it will help put him in line to take on John Cena for the U.S. title.
The man Cena dethroned will be busy defending the world title. Cena will need a new foe, and the crop of heels who are not already in feuds is thin. Plus, adding Jericho to the Hell in a Cell card would give it a boost in star power.
The New Day vs. The Dudley Boyz (Tables Match for Tag Team Championship)
3 of 7There isn't a more obvious rematch in the works than The Dudley Boyz vs. The New Day.
The champs escaped Night of Champions with their belts when Xavier Woods ran into the match and forced it to end early. The lack of climax there points to another showdown between these teams.
The fact that tables have been such a central theme in this rivalry is a strong sign that Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley will have a home-field advantage of sorts when WWE books them in a tables match.
That will build on all this table talk from the two sets of rivals. It will assure a more satisfying conclusion to the next matchup and give fans the sight they want to see: the babyfaces sending the heels crashing through wood.
The Wyatt Family vs. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin
4 of 7The war with The Wyatt Family isn't over. Backstage after losing at Night of Champions, Dean Ambrose seethed, pacing around the hallway. All he could talk about was how Chris Jericho cost them the bout.
With the heroes coming up just short in Houston, expect them to go after the monsters from the backwoods at Hell in a Cell.
This time, a new partner will be on his way. Having Baron Corbin be the third man would be an easy way to bring him up from NXT. It would give Ambrose and Reigns a big man to help them combat Braun Strowman.
Corbin is certainly raw and not yet ready for the spotlight as a solo act, but this alliance would be a place for him to take his first steps onto the WWE stage. The Lone Wolf's feud with Samoa Joe over the past few weeks could well be the company's way of trying to polish Corbin's game before his arrival.
Ambrose and Reigns certainly won't be calling on Jericho again.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev
5 of 7The soap opera is not yet done. Dolph Ziggler got the win at Night of Champions, but it was a bit of a fluky one.
Summer Rae distracted her own man by throwing a shoe. The Showoff pounced, hitting Rusev with the Zig Zag. That doesn't sound like the climax to this mostly unentertaining rivalry, but just the latest chapter.
Expect one more clash between Ziggler and Rusev. Pay-per-view battles often come in threes, and neither man seems poised to jump to another narrative anytime soon. There are too many unresolved issues to work through, including what Ziggler's intentions are in giving Summer gifts.
The coming weeks will see more tension between Summer and Rusev—and unfortunately, more melodrama in the buildup to Ziggler vs. Rusev III.
Kevin Owens vs. Ryback (Intercontinental Championship)
6 of 7The fact that Ryback and Kevin Owens clicked so well in the ring is reason enough for WWE to book a second collision between the two.
Besides, Ryback will most certainly get a rematch. Owens bested him at Night of Champions by clawing at his eyes and rolling him up. That's not a rivalry-ending win.
That smells like a way to lead into the next showdown.
The end of this story will likely see Owens more demonstratively put Ryback away or The Big Guy get his title back. Either way, WWE will likely fill out the Hell in a Cell card with these two slugging it out over the Intercontinental Championship.
Seth Rollins vs. Kane (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)
7 of 7A good number of fans aren't going to want to hear this, but Kane is going to be in the world title picture again.
It doesn't matter how big of a reaction younger stars are getting. It doesn't matter how much of the audience is over seeing Kane in a high-profile role. WWE keeps placing Kane in the spotlight.
His return at Night of Champions foreshadowed that he will resume his issues with Seth Rollins. The two had been bickering for weeks as members of The Authority. After trading his suit and tie for his trademark red mask, it looks as if Kane is done being a corporate goon.
Assaulting Rollins is likely a precursor to his challenging Rollins at Hell in a Cell.
WWE will likely believe it doesn't need a great world title bout at the pay-per-view with Brock Lesnar and Undertaker headlining. And Sting was always going to be a one-time opponent for the champ, whether he got hurt or not.
A more creative, risk-taking writing team would allow Cesaro to earn his way into contention. Instead, it looks as if Kane is back to hurt the man who never respected him and try to win the WWE title in the process.
