Premier Boxing Champions 2015: Fight Card and TV Schedule for September 22

Premier Boxing Champions' Toe-to-Toe Tuesdays on Fox Sports 1 returns for another boxing doubleheader. This week's card comes from the Sands Casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and there's a rising local star headlining the card.

WBC Continental Americas super welterweight champion Julian "J Rock" Williams (20-0-1, 12 KO) has the look of a future star in the sport of boxing. The 25-year-old from Philadelphia has the size (5'11"), speed and power to be a force in the 154-pound division.

According to his trainer, the legendary Naazim Richardson, Williams is the total package. Per Premier Boxing Champions, Richardson said this about his fighter:

J Rock is the truth. He has talent, a ferocious determination and the intangibles to be a champion. Not just speed and power, but he’s a real student of the game who takes it very seriously. He approaches the game like he’s a professional. It’s his job, and he’s always on top of it. He’s one of the top prospects—not just in the [154-pound] division, but in the sport.

"

That's high praise coming from a man who has trained Bernard Hopkins, Shane Mosley and others. Williams hasn't faced a major name yet, but he's dominated the way a top-notch prospect should against mediocre opposition.

On Tuesday, the man who will oppose him isn't a worldwide figure, but he is tough as nails. Luciano Cuello (35-3, 17 KO) has a sparkling record and has only been stopped once in his career. The Argentine-born 31-year-old has an obvious advantage in experience, but he'll be giving up some size—he stands 5'9 ½"—and quite honestly some talent.

Williams holds a minor title, but he has the look of a future world champion, while Cuello looks destined for gatekeeper status. If he can't beat Williams—or at least give him a stiff test—his journey to those ranks will be accelerated. In his last fight, Cuello won an eight-round unanimous decision over Rafael Chiruta in November 2014.

Williams scored a sixth-round TKO win over Arman Ovsepyan in his last fight in June. He understands the pressure to perform as the headliner. Per Warfare Sports, Williams seems to be up to the challenge:

I'm excited to be headlining this show. It's a good kind of pressure and I'm ready for it. I hope that my hometown of Philadelphia comes out to support me because I plan on putting on an electric performance. I have a lot of respect for Cuello, but I haven't lost a round in eight fights and I plan on keeping that going.

"

As the headliner of a nationally televised card, the pressure is on Williams to not only win but to prevail impressively. We'll see if he can deliver.

Action-Packed Prelim

There's no question Williams is the best-known fighter on the card, but the 122-pound weight class may generate the fight of the night. Undefeated WBA interim super bantamweight champion Moises Flores (23-0, 16 KO) puts his unblemished record and title on the line against Argentine KO artist Luis Emanuel Cusolito (21-1-1, 19 KO).

Both men love to come forward and bang, as evidenced by their high KO totals. There should be no lack of action as these two battle for the second-level 122-pound world title.

Cusolito last fought in March when he scored a second-round TKO win over Sergio Carlos Santillan in Argentina. Tuesday night's bout will be the first fight Cusolito has had in the United States, let alone on a televised event on a network as big as Fox Sports 1 in America.

Flores last fought in April. He was able to eke out a split-decision victory over Oscar Escandon to capture the title. A win could vault Flores into contention to face some of the best fighters from the division and perhaps into an opportunity to face IBF champion Carl Frampton, who is also under the PBC banner.

These aren't the biggest names, but as midweek boxing cards go, these bouts have the potential to entertain.
