WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from September 16

Erik BeastonSep 17, 2015

General manager William Regal's announcement of an Iron Man match for the NXT Women's Championship at TakeOver: Respect not only ensured a history-making main event for that show, but it also solidified Sasha Banks and Bayley as the biggest winners from Wednesday night's broadcast.

Both women have been fantastic over the last year. Banks has developed into one of the best wrestlers in all of WWE, regardless of gender, and Bayley is reminiscent of Ricky Steamboat, the purest of babyfaces and an inspiration to fans everywhere.

Their dynamic has made for one of the most interesting and compelling stories in the developmental brand, and now they'll have 30 minutes to work with come October 7. It will be interesting to see if they can keep the fans invested for the entire half-hour.

The fact that they have the opportunity to compete in such a rare gimmick match is proof of the trust that Triple H and NXT management has in them to deliver a fantastic match in the marquee position on the card.

None of the other Superstars or Divas who appeared on Wednesday's show emerged from the festivities with the momentum on their side the way Bayley and Banks did.

Still, there were other winners, and a noticeable loser, from this week's broadcast.

Loser: Solomon Crowe

It is no secret that Crowe's run in NXT has been disappointing, to say the least. Uneven booking, a lack of consistency regarding his character and a win-loss record that is anything but impressive have resulted in a non-existent push.

When he entered the NXT Arena Wednesday night for his match with Apollo Crews, he did so with no expectation of a victory from the fans who had packed Full Sail University.

Unlike other recognizable stars from the independent scene, Crowe failed to earn the full support of management, leading to inconsistencies with his push. Over the last six months, he has assumed the role of glorified jobber, a competitor with enough name recognition to remain a threat of sorts but one never really with the chance to win.

That is a far cry from the expectations that were thrown on the man known formerly as Sami Callihan.

Like Chris Hero, also known as Kassius Ohno to longtime NXT fans, Crowe will likely benefit from a release from his developmental contract and a return to the indies, where he would be in high demand and in his comfort zone.

Winner: Bull Dempsey

The Bull-Fit Superstar has been making the most of his new character and now finds himself involved in a program with Tyler Breeze, one of the top stars in all of NXT.

Wednesday night, he took out both Breeze and "The Party Pooper" Adam Rose, clearing them from the ring in the ultimate display of a wrestling babyface.

While the feud does not benefit Breeze nearly as much, Dempsey will have the opportunity to learn on the fly from someone who is a veteran of WWE's developmental system. He will also be able to evolve his character, something absolutely vital to his future.

That he has been more motivated with the comedic persona than he was as the straight-forward "Last of a Dying Breed" character is another plus.

Winner: Tye Dillinger

The Perfect 10 had another strong night Wednesday, proving that the thunderous ovation he received in Brooklyn at TakeOver was not a one-time thing.

The fans are eating up the new character, and Dillinger's cocky, arrogant celebrations after the most simple of maneuvers is amusing. Of course, at some point he will have to continue evolving and even show consistent charisma on the microphone, something he has proved incapable of to this point in his career.

Still in its infancy, the persona is working wonders for a guy who has always had the in-ring work to be a star but was lacking that one element to really put him over the top. Whether he can continue building it and molding it to fit WWE's criteria for a well-rounded main roster performer is the question.

Winner: Baron Corbin

The Lone Wolf continued to prove to his doubters he can excel in longer matches Wednesday night, working with Rhyno, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano to deliver a solid entry into the Dusty Rhodes Classic.

Corbin is a guy who has shown flashes of brilliance when he has been allowed to work longer than the 10-second squash matches he became known for over the last year. Realistically speaking, the only way for him to develop as a worker is to be thrown into situations where he can get the additional ring time and work with more experienced Superstars.

With a very good match against Samoa Joe from TakeOver on his resume and Wednesday night's tag match in the bag, fans will finally get a taste of what Corbin has to offer aside from a kick to the stomach and his End of Days finisher.

And both the performer and the brand will benefit as a result.
