Tyson Fury Belittles Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye Ahead of Title Fight

Rory MarsdenSep 17, 2015

Britain's Tyson Fury has mocked the calibre of opponents Wladimir Klitschko has faced in the past, including "bottle job" David Haye, ahead of the pair's October 24 heavyweight title fight.

Klitschko has ruled the heavyweight division for almost a decade now and added the WBA title to his WBO and IBF belts when he eased to victory over Haye back in 2011—although the Briton complained of a broken toe following his defeat.

The 39-year-old is putting his belts on the line again against Fury in Dusseldorf, Germany, in October. The self-styled Gypsy King has warned the champion to expect his hardest-ever fight, while also mocking Haye for pulling out of two proposed bouts against him, per Sky Sports News HQ (via Sky Sports):

Klitschko's best win was against a man called David Haye. I don't know if you've heard of him, but we do know he's a bottle job and he's a Mr Toe Breaker. And if that's the best win of his career so far then he's in trouble, because that man (Haye) wouldn't even face me twice, never mind get in there and fight. So if that's his greatest win - over a man of 6ft 3in who's not really that good anyway, what's he going to be like when he's got a 6ft 9in Gypsy King in front of him?

"

Klitschko's professional boxing record currently stands at 64-3, with nobody having come close to beating him since his last defeat in 2004.

The 27-year-old Fury is currently undefeated (24-0) and has earned his shot at Klitschko following defeats of Joey Abell, Dereck Chisora and Christian Hammer since his return from a brief retirement in 2014.

Although Fury will enjoy a three-inch height advantage over Klitschko, he says he has employed some "massive lads" to spar against in training and insisted he will knock his opponent out in Germany to claim the heavyweight crown, per Sky Sports.

One of those sparring partners is world kickboxing champion Rico Verhoeven who is convinced Fury can pull off a shock win, per MEN Sport:

Klitschko is, unsurprisingly, the odds-on favourite for the fight at the Esprit Arena. He is more experienced than Fury, and his record speaks for itself.

However, the Wilmslow fighter's size, youth and speed could cause the champion a few problems that he may not have experienced of late.

Fury is talking a good game, but the battle can only be decided in the ring, and it is a ring Klitschko has ruled for going on 10 years.

Only the best performance of his career can help Fury pull off a victory, and even that might not be enough.
