Ihenacho Out for Season
Tuesday, Sept. 15
Tarik El-Bashir of CSN Washington reported the team signed corner Will Blackmon after placing Ihenacho on season-ending IR.
Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported Ihenacho will "probably" need surgery to repair the fracture. The fourth-year defensive back made three tackles before leaving in the second quarter. He did not return and was replaced by Trenton Robinson, who recorded eight tackles while having an up-and-down day in pass coverage.
Robinson will likely receive a majority of the snaps with Ihenacho out, though Jeron Johnson could also see some time. Johnson and Ihenacho battled for the starting job in training camp. It likely speaks to Washington's faith in Johnson (or lack thereof) that Robinson got the first crack.
In his second season with Washington, Ihenacho has struggled to stay healthy. He played in only three games in 2014 after suffering a foot fracture.
With Washington already boasting a secondary full of holes, losing Ihenacho isn't going to help matters. It's only been one week, but it appears the team is headed for another long, frustrating season in the nation's capital.
