Mayweather vs. Berto: Highlights, Reaction for Showtime 'All Access' Episode 3
In the final episode before Floyd Mayweather Jr. meets Andre Berto in the ring September 12, All Access took one final look at the pre-match preparations of the fighters.
The episode kicked off with a look at Mayweather's training session, one of his last, as he continued to tell anyone willing to listen that he is training harder for this fight than he did for the one against Manny Pacquiao. It's as though he needs to validate his choice because of the criticism that has come his way.
Constantly hyping himself up during workouts, Mayweather did not completely dispel the chance of coming back after his fight for a 50th win if he does manage to beat Berto. When he brought up the question, "What about 50?" he stated, "I can't overlook 49."
Of course, after a training session came an extravagant night out on Las Vegas, as only Mayweather can do.
While Mayweather worked in a meticulous routine, Berto was ever-changing, as All Access explained that he's been focusing on low-impact, high-intensity workouts. Berto stressed being at a peak athletic level in order to keep up with Mayweather.
In a style more common in his opponent, though, Berto took a jab at Mayweather after underwater treadmill training: "He can't read, write or spell. ... There's a reason why he walks around with all that cash. Do you think he can write a check?"
Berto broke camp and headed to Vegas while Mayweather, already in Sin City, spent his final weekend hosting a barbecue and partying with his closest friends.
But then at 4 a.m, it was back to work and back to training for Mayweather—a remarkable testament to his nocturnal work ethic.
With four days until the fight, Mayweather and Berto were together under one roof at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, as Showtime Sports showed:
There's an air of desperation at times in Berto, who stated how badly he needs to take down Mayweather. He threw that notion around a few times in this installment of All Access, but for a man who is fighting to keep his career alive, he might not be wrong.
All Access won't be bringing many more pre-fight glimpses now. Just hours away from the main event, it's time for all cameras around the world to descend on Las Vegas and watch the undefeated Mayweather take on one of the most unlikely of challengers in Berto.
