WWE SmackDown: Spoiler-Free Preview for September 10
Prepare for an echo of Monday's Raw on the Sept. 10 edition of WWE SmackDown.
Thursday's show is set to feature a host of rematches from Monday night. Seth Rollins, Cesaro and Paige all get a chance to make up for missing out on victory last time around.
Will these repeat bouts be the cure for SmackDown's ailing viewership?

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
As ProWrestling.net noted, last week's show "scored a 1.42 rating, down from the previous week's 1.62 rating." That's a far cry from 10 years ago, when the show garnered a 2.7 rating and a 2.9 rating in the first two weeks of September, per Gerwreck.net.
WWE will be facing stiff competition with the NFL season kicking off. The company will counter by having its world champ, Intercontinental Championship titleholder and tag champions all in action. A Lumberjack match caps off the show.
Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, played host to Tuesday's taping. Before the show airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on Syfy, fans can either read a spoiler report (courtesy of WrestlingInc.com) or read on for a results-free look at the matches set for Thursday's SmackDown.
Cesaro vs. The Miz
Their last clash ended in a double count-out.
The Miz spent the majority of the matchup hammering Cesaro's injured ribs. The King of Swing fought through the pain and ended up not only not beating The Miz but also taking a right hand to the jaw courtesy of Big Show.
Heading into this contest, one has to wonder if Big Show will play a role again. Is Cesaro going to be roped into a three-way feud with The Miz and the giant?
It's not clear whether Cesaro's rivalry with Kevin Owens is over. He's lost to the former NXT champ several times now. He could gain some momentum here and go hunting after Owens or find himself the means for The Miz to get things rolling for himself.
Paige vs. Sasha Banks
In another rematch from Raw, PCB and Team B.A.D. each send a representative to the ring.
Last time out, Banks won in a match that ended abruptly. She and Paige seemed ready to steal the show Monday night, but a roll-up pin brought the bout to a conclusion without a climax.
Hopefully, the fact they are locking horns again is a sign of a feud between these two. Paige's teammate Charlotte will be busy chasing the Divas Championship, leaving Paige and Banks to provide the women's division with a story outside the title picture.
Jimmy Uso, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose vs. The New Day
Jimmy steps away from the announce desk for a night. While his brother Jey recovers from shoulder surgery, Jimmy has not competed much.
He does so here in a matchup with potential aplenty. The varied styles of all the men involved ensure this will be a fun, fast-paced blockbuster.
In an interesting development, Reigns and Ambrose seem to be fully stepping into the tag team division. They met the tag champs last week and appeared to have them beat. Should they knock them off here, there's reason to believe their next move may be to challenge for the gold.
On this night, both sets of rivals will have to keep their eyes open.
The Dudley Boyz are liable to bring out some tables to send the champs through, and The Wyatt Family could be bringing their brand of destruction to the babyfaces in a post-match attack.
The Lucha Dragons vs. The Ascension
An NXT rivalry is revisited as two teams in need of momentum collide.
With The Dudley Boyz back and The New Day stealing the show on a regular basis, The Lucha Dragons have been mostly pushed to the side. They haven't won much, and they are coming off a first-round loss in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
The Ascension don't have a much better record, but they do have some added direction of late. Stardust aligned with them last week, dubbing their trio The Cosmic Wasteland. Does Stardust play a role here? Or do Sin Cara and Kalisto get a win en route to climbing back into contention?
Seth Rollins vs. Ryback (Lumberjack Match)
Champion battles champion again.
A frustrated Rollins looks to make up for a bad Monday. Not only did he lose in six-man tag action to end the show, but he fell to Ryback earlier in the night thanks to an inside cradle and a distraction from Sting.
On Thursday's SmackDown, Superstars will encircle the ring to make sure this remains a one-on-one battle. Depending on who the lumberjacks are, though, Rollins may find himself just as upset as he was after Monday's Raw. If John Cena, Sting, Ambrose or any of the world champ's many enemies is among those standing at ringside, he may have to dodge more than the blows Ryback throws his way.
While the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the New England Patriots, WWE has to hope a good chunk of fans are instead glued to this battle of champions and a SmackDown full of Raw rematches.
