Seth Rollins Is Perfect Choice for Double Duty at WWE Night of Champions 2015
At WWE Night of Champions next Sunday, Seth Rollins will make history when he defends both his WWE World Heavyweight and United States Championships in two separate matches on the same night.
His first obstacle will come in the form of John Cena, who is determined on regaining the star-spangled prize, while Sting will contend for the WWE title against Rollins in the main event. The two icons have proved to be worthy challengers, and Rollins will certainly have his hands full against the both of them come Sept. 20.
In recent weeks, WWE has teased the possibility of Rollins walking out of Houston without any gold around his waist. He fell short of victory twice on Raw this past Monday and been the victim of Sting's mind games as of late as well.
With Rollins crossing into uncharted territory as a dual champion, however, there isn't anyone who is a better fit for the role than him.

During his reign as WWE world heavyweight champion, which has spanned a little over five months, Rollins has contested some of the best bouts of 2015 so far. His instant classics against the likes of Randy Orton, Dean Ambrose, Neville and John Cena have all helped boost the prestige of the prize he holds in his possession and has made his title matches feel more meaningful as a result.
Furthermore, an argument can be made that he is the best all-around performer in WWE today. With Daniel Bryan out of the picture for the foreseeable future, Rollins has taken over the top spot as the company's biggest workhorse next to John Cena, rarely competing in a match considered to be below average.
Of course, his wrestling skills have always been exceptional dating back to his Ring of Honor days as Tyler Black. He's really come into his own as WWE's lead heel this past year and has been a major focal point of Raw for the better part of 2015.
If there's anyone who should be competing twice in one night, it's the self-proclaimed Architect of The Shield. To boot, he has two quality opponents in Cena and Sting, so it's almost a guarantee that both bouts will deliver.
Ring of Honor has had Jay Lethal as its world heavyweight champion as well as its television champion for the last several months, and the experiment has been a success. Lethal, like Rollins, has a variety of programs going for him right now, so it's logical to keep both belts on him for the time being.
While it's unknown how long Rollins will reign as both the WWE world heavyweight and United States champion, WWE would be wise to keep it going past the September staple. It's created a compelling storyline going into the event where every active title must be defended, and it would be interesting to see it continue well into the fall season.
The Night of Champions undercard is already shaping up nicely, but the promise of Rollins contesting in two different title matches is a strong sell for the pay-per-view. With there being a stunning lack of roster depth toward the top of the card, it's essential there be at least one main event player who is involved in multiple rivalries.
Since WrestleMania 31, the crown jewel of The Authority has solidified himself as WWE's most consistently reliable performer, thus making him the perfect candidate to be pulling double duty at Night of Champions.
