Savage Placed on IR
Saturday, Sept. 5
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle revealed Savage's status. After the Sept. 4 game, Savage told McClain he was going to listen to the coaching staff about a recovery plan: "Just a hard hit. I guess we'll find out (the severity) when we get back (to Houston). Obviously, any kind of injury, you're always a little worried, but I'm going to go back and do whatever coach (Bill O'Brien) wants me to do."
The Texans will start the season with Brian Hoyer as their starting quarterback and Ryan Mallett as the backup.
A fourth-round pick by Houston last season, Savage threw 19 passes in two games as a rookie. Given his spot on the depth chart this preseason, it would have been surprising if he had gotten into a game anyway.
