Real Madrid Transfer News: David De Gea Due Compensation Deal, Top Rumours
After the club failed to purchase the Spain international from Manchester United on transfer deadline day, Real Madrid will be forced to pay David De Gea a huge compensation sum if the goalkeeper signs for the club on a free next year.
Pete Jenson, Adam Crafton and Chris Wheeler of MailOnline reported that Los Blancos will owe De Gea £3.6 million if he arrives next summer despite claims that the figure could be as large as £11 million.
The player has a pre-agreed contract with Real president Florentino Perez that guarantees compensation for De Gea, with a penalty clause present to protect the goalkeeper's financial interests.

The United player watched his dream move back to his home town evaporate in the final hour of the Spanish transfer window as Madrid failed to register him before the late-night deadline.
The £29 million transfer deal would also have seen Real 'keeper Keylor Navas join United, but the Costa Rican will now remain at the Bernabeu for the foreseeable future.
The Independent (h/t Liam Corless of the Mirror) reported that Navas was still keen to make the switch to join United despite De Gea's transfer collapsing, and he contacted the Red Devils on Tuesday in an attempt to resurrect his chances of moving to England.

But with Madrid's precarious goalkeeping situation and United unexpectedly retaining DDG, the Costa Rican will remain in the Spanish capital.
Corless also highlighted the United claim that Navas was not given permission by Real to travel to England for a vital medical, further slowing down the conclusion of the deal.
Navas' agent, Ricardo Cabanas, was "reportedly out of contact for a period of three hours on Monday afternoon, making it harder to complete a deal before the deadline," per Corless, forcing De Gea to remain a United player.

The goalkeeper's good friend and club mate Juan Mata has spoken out in favour of De Gea, as reported by James Whaling of the Mirror. Mata says De Gea is "calm and relaxed" despite witnessing Madrid's failure to complete the deal:
"He seems the same as ever to me; he’s calm, relaxed. He has a naturally calm personality. These have been difficult days but he is OK.
It is good for him to be here with the national team too. I think his personality will help. He is always calm. Even in moments of maximum pressure or stress he still plays well. His personality will help him on and off the pitch.
David is professional and he always will be. His desire and professionalism will remain intact. Any team in the world would be better off with him in it. The fans always support the team, all of us, and they will support him.
He is a friend and he is very professional. I wish him the best and I am sure he will be fine. He will manage the situation.
"
De Gea kept 11 clean sheets for United in the Premier League last term, per Squawka, winning the Red Devils' Player of the Season award for the second consecutive year and prompting Madrid to move for the 24-year-old.

However, there are now reasons why DDG might never play in Real's colours, as fan favourite Navas gets the chance to excel.
Reporter Paul Hirst cited a poll by Marca that claimed 88.7 per cent of Madridistas wanted to retain Navas as No. 1—with De Gea only polling 6,232 of the 55,270 votes cast—as a possible reason for Real to have doubts about swapping the goalkeepers:
Madrid had a hugely disappointing campaign last year—which cost manager Carlo Ancelotti his job—but the lack of De Gea between the sticks might be a blessing if Navas performs well.
DDG had seemingly been waiting for Iker Casillas to leave the Bernabeu, but Navas has an excellent reputation in Spanish football, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he has an excellent season, halting De Gea's ambitions.
But with the Galactico door always spinning, it might still not be enough for the former Levante stopper. If De Gea is available on a free, Perez will find it incredibly hard to resist taking one of the best goalkeepers in world football.
