Real Madrid Transfer News: Sergio Ramos Reminds David De Gea 'No One Is Dying'
Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has attempted to salve the wounds suffered by David De Gea as a result of his collapsed move to the Bernabeu, reminding his Spain team-mate "no one is dying."
There's every chance the Manchester United goalkeeper could now move to Madrid for nothing next summer, and Ramos says more hard work between now and then is the solution, per the Daily Mail's Jonny Singer:
"I have not spoken to him and I don't know what his opinion is. I think life goes on and no one is dying. He has to keep working to keep at his level because I think he is a candidate to become one of the best goalkeepers.
We have two great goalkeepers. I speak about the players we have here. Keylor has to be calm after the love he received from the crowds during the match against Betis (during which he kept a clean sheet and saved a penalty). I can't speak about players that are not part of Real Madrid.

It shows an upbeat attitude from Real captain Ramos considering he came so close to linking up with De Gea in a deal allegedly spoilt only by poorly timed paperwork filing.
The Press Association provided a recap of the failed transfer:
Manchester United and Real Madrid hit back at one another in the aftermath of the failed deal, per Adam Crafton and Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail
Ramos was involved in his own Old Trafford transfer saga before signing a new five-year deal in the Spanish capital and securing his own long-term future with Los Blancos.
It's therefore understandable he might be more optimistic than compatriot De Gea at present, with the Red Devils stopper looking to return to Louis van Gaal's first team for what could be his last season at the club.

Sergio Romero deputised in goal for United while the transfer saga was ongoing, but the team stands to receive a significant boost if 2014-15 Player of the Year De Gea can swiftly regain top form.
Bleacher Report's Rob Blanchette suggested this whole debacle may even have left a sour enough taste in the 24-year-old's mouth that he'll no longer pursue his La Liga return, potentially penning a new United deal:
That would certainly be the ideal scenario for all at Old Trafford, who stamped their authority on the market by not giving in to the pressures of a complicated deal involving such a valued star.
Ex-Liverpool defender turned Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher jested he was glad De Gea remained past the Spanish transfer deadline, although maybe for a different set of reasons to most United fans:
De Gea and his contract situation is sure to grab many headlines between now and July 2016, at which point he would no longer be a Manchester United player unless an extension arises.
Real Madrid captain Ramos did a fine job of putting the botched move in perspective to remind his countryman there's always tomorrow, but United will be doing all they can between now and then to convince their star to remain.
