Delanie Walker Injury: Updates on Titans TE's Wrist and Return

Joe PantornoSep 13, 2015

Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker suffered a wrist injury in the team's Week 1 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and despite missing the team's Week 2 defeat to Cleveland, Walker is active for Week 3, the team confirmed.

Walker's participation is not a surprise, as the team announced on Sept. 25 that the tight end was probable for Week 3 after being a full participant in Thursday and Friday's practices.

The nine-year veteran was coming off a career season in which he hauled in 63 receptions for 890 yards—Titans franchise records for a tight end. Yet he was feeling underappreciated in the offseason after Tennessee went 2-14, as he said, via Terry McCormick of 247Sports:

"

Last year, I felt like I did more and no one cared. I broke records and scored touchdowns and no one cared. We've got to win more as a team. I think even if I have a good year and we don't have a good year as a team, who cares, right? But if win together, then the individual guys get the accolades they deserve.

"

As one of the Titans' most productive targets, he is a safety blanket for rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota. The 6'0", 248-pound tight end has the strength to bully his way toward the middle of the field and the skill set to make athletic catches and extend plays with yards after the catch.
