WWE Superstar of the Week for August 29
The past seven days have been a good time to be a WWE fan. Last Saturday's NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn special, SummerSlam and Raw all produced some great moments.
WWE made an effort to make SummerSlam feel like a second WrestleMania, and with the way things turned out, that goal was accomplished.
So many people stepped up in a big way this week. Before we get to the Superstar of the Week, let's look at a few people who stood out for their efforts.

Honorable Mentions: The Celebrities
Celebrity guests can be hit or miss in WWE. We have seen some go over well with the crowd, but we have seen even more be torn to shreds when they come unprepared.
WWE was lucky that the two celebrities involved with SummerSlam came with a plan. Stephen Amell wrestled his first match at the big pay-per-view, and he did a great job.
His athleticism was above average, but it was the fact that he took the brunt of Stardust and King Barrett's offense that earned Amell respect.
Then there's Jon Stewart, the man who saved SummerSlam. No celebrity has ever been cheered for interfering in a match more than Stewart was when he hit John Cena with that chair and cost him the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Every time the former Daily Show host appears on WWE programming, he knocks it out of the park. He also deserves credit for taking an AA (attitude adjustment) from Cena when most celebs refuse to get physical.
Honorable Mentions: The Returns
Two big returns took place this week, and the WWE Universe met both of them with open arms. The Dudley Boyz made the first big comeback.
Their surprise appearance on Raw was yet another treat for the Brooklyn audience, and with D-Von and Bubba Ray's history in New York, it's no surprise that they were greeted with a huge pop.
They might be back with WWE as more than just special guests since they wrestled a match against The Ascension on SmackDown, and that is great news for the tag team division.
The second return that grabbed people's attention happened during the closing moments of Raw when Seth Rollins was receiving a statue from Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
When the cloth was lifted, it wasn't a bronze likeness of Rollins but the WCW legend Sting. It was one of those moments that was great no matter how predictable it was.
Triple H made a match between Rollins vs. Sting at Night of Champions for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, so we could end up seeing The Vigilante capture gold one more time before he hangs up his boots for good.
Honorable Mentions: The Superstars
So many people contributed to a great three days of wrestling that it's hard to pick whom to highlight. Among TakeOver, SummerSlam and Raw, we witnessed several memorable matches.
It's easier to quickly acknowledge everyone in bullet points.
- Kevin Owens pulled double duty in two fun bouts.
- Finn Balor retained the NXT title.
- Rollins won the United States Championship in a great match.
- The New Day and Vaudevillains both captured the WWE and NXT tag titles, respectively.
- Jushin Thunder Liger wrestled his first match in WWE.
- Apollo Crews had an impressive debut.
- The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar's rematch was better than their bout from WrestleMania.
- Blue Pants became the most popular unsigned talent in NXT.
There are probably others who could be added to the list, but these are the people who made the biggest impact.
Superstar(s) of the Week for August 29: Bayley and Sasha Banks
Bayley vs. Sasha Banks for the NXT Women's Championship not only stole the show at TakeOver, but it was better than the majority of matches from the entire week.
This bout had everything from technical ability, to a great storyline to a hot crowd that truly respected the two women in the ring.
Considering how hardcore the NXT fans are, it's sometimes surprising that Bayley's gimmick got over as well as it did, but her hard work earned her the love of every fan in the Barclays Center and around the world.
B/R writers, WWE Superstars, legends and fans took to social media to express their admiration for the clinic put on by these two talented wrestlers.
Banks was just as vital to the success of this match as Bayley. She is a natural heel with a great sense of wrestling psychology and the athleticism to do anything she wants between the ropes.
Both of these women have bright futures in WWE if they continue performing at the same high level we saw at TakeOver.
The curtain call with Bayley, Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch was one of those moments that will be remembered for a long time. They worked so hard to make the NXT women's division better than the main roster, and they deserved that moment in the spotlight.
The Divas revolution storyline hasn't been perfect, but the fact that WWE is even trying to use the Divas more effectively gives hope that this isn't a fad that will die out in six months.
What do you think? Were Bayley and Sasha Banks the Superstars of the Week? If not them, then who? Thanks for reading, and follow me on Twitter: @BR_Doctor.
