Barcelona Transfer News: Latest on Adama Traore, Andriy Yarmolenko Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenAug 27, 2015

Adama Traore may have left Barcelona for Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, but the La Masia product still dreams of starring for the Catalan giants one day.

As reported by the Birmingham Mail's Joseph Chapman, the 19-year-old is adamant he will return to the Camp Nou one day, telling Catalan radio show Club de la Mitjanit:

"

I'm going to return to Barca. I didn't speak with Luis Enrique. I only saw that he didn't count on me.

There are things that you have to accept and you have to keep growing. It was the moment to do it [leave].

If the opportunity arrives for me to go back, I will take advantage of it to the maximum. Now is the moment to prepare myself as much as possible, if it arrives.

Traore has enjoyed a fine start to his Premier League career, forcing an own goal against Crystal Palace and scoring a goal of his own in the League Cup match against Notts County.

His blistering pace and trickery have been a welcome sight in Birmingham, and while Villa manager Tim Sherwood remains adamant he will be carefully nurtured, it seems just a matter of time before he becomes a regular starter.

Broadcaster Jacqui Oatley certainly thinks so:

The youngster was widely regarded as one of the top prospects in Barcelona's youth system, but his development stalled during his time with Barcelona B. Following the team's relegation to the third tier of Spanish football, most of the top prospects were expected to either join the senior squad or leave the club.

Barcelona field one of the strongest attacking trios in the world in Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, and with the likes of Munir El Haddadi and Rafinha also ahead of him in the pecking order, playing time would have been an issue had he joined the senior squad.

Instead, he moved to Birmingham, signing for Aston Villa in a deal worth up to €12 million. The Blaugrana insisted on including a buy-back clause, however, meaning they can bring him back to the Camp Nou if his development continues at Villa, per ESPN FC.

According to the Catalans, the clause is valid for three years, which gives Traore ample time to settle in with his new team-mates and develop into the star forward many believe he can become. He's already showing what he's capable off just a few matches into the 2015-16 season―who knows what he'll be able to do in a year or two?

Judging by his comments, the Blaugrana won't struggle to convince him to return should they activate the buy-back clause―players can still choose not to sign for their former club, even if the clause is activated―so if the teenager can continue to grow, a return to the Catalan giants may still be in his future.

No Move for Andriy Yarmolenko

Barcelona are reportedly not interested in the services of Dinamo Kiev winger Andriy Yarmolenko, according to Fichajes.net (h/t Daily Star's Jamie Anderson).

Sport's Toni Juanmarti recently claimed the Ukraine international shot down the chance to move to Arsenal because his dream was to play for the Catalans, and while Sport Witness had a hard time believing the report, it did drum up interest in a potential move.

After all, Yarmolenko is an underrated winger who has greatly impressed in Europe the past two seasons, and Bleacher Report UK's Sam Tighe is a big fan:

The 25-year-old is a freak of nature, a fast and quick winger standing well over 6' tall. He has the strength and look of a classic forward, but even in the short areas, it's his raw pace and surprising quickness that set him apart.

Coupled with his size, it makes him incredibly difficult to defend against. Last year, he managed to score four goals and add seven assists in 11 Europa League matches―averaging an impressive goal or assists per match, per WhoScored.com.

Yarmolenko is a special player who could be a big hit should he move to a Premier League club this summer―Tighe noted Everton's interest, and the Toffees would be an excellent fit. But as good as he is, he may not be good enough to shine for Barcelona, who don't really use classic wingers in their formation to begin with.

The Ukrainian is more than just a winger, but no matter where he would play, he'd have a hard time cracking the starting XI anytime soon. If even a home-grown prospect with tremendous upside like Traore can't make his mark at the Camp Nou, don't expect things to be different for Yarmolenko.

He may dream of the Catalans, but it's not likely the feeling is mutual.
