Louis van Gaal Is a 'Bulls----er,' Says Eamon Dunphy After Manchester United Win
Manchester United turned in their best performance of the season so far on Wednesday night with a 4-0 win over Club Brugge, but it wasn’t a display that convinced everyone, including former Republic of Ireland international Eamon Dunphy.

Manager Louis van Gaal was the target of the pundit’s scathing attack on RTE in the aftermath of the contest, as Dunphy branded the Dutchman a “spoofer” and a “bulls----er,” per Declan Whooley of the Irish Independent.

“They’re a one temp team and they’ve no gears,” Dunphy claimed. “There’s time when you need a player with experience like Bastian Schweinsteiger or Michael Carrick but you need to up the tempo. You need a game changer. That’s what United don’t have.”
Here's the footage of Dunphy's outburst (WARNING, profanities used):
The Dutchman was in boisterous mood in the aftermath of the match, insisting that none of the top sides in Europe would be willing to go up against United in club football’s premier competition. “I don't think they [Barcelona and Bayern Munich] want to draw us,” he said to BT Sport (via the club website).

United were extremely comfortable on the night, as a hat-trick from Wayne Rooney and a goal from Ander Herrera ensured their place was secure in the group stages of the Champions League.
As noted here by Alex Shaw of ESPN FC, United were in a bad way when Van Gaal took over, but his efforts to restore the side to where they were under Sir Alex Ferguson are still a work in progress:
It could be argued that Van Gaal's past achievements should earn him more respect. After all, he won the Champions League with Ajax in 1995, as well as league titles in the Netherlands, Spain and Germany. Van Gaal also steered a Dutch side in transition to a third-place finish at the last World Cup.
His tactical acumen has been on show in bursts throughout his tenure, too. Bleacher Report’s Rob Blanchette thinks that Van Gaal got things spot-on against the Belgian side, although he did note that the lack of quality in opposition:
Of course, more will be expected of the Red Devils. While they’ve shone in Europe against mediocre opposition, determined defences in the Premier League have shut down United's attacking threat. Subsequently, it’ll be intriguing to see if the side's attack is bolstered during the window.
