WWE SummerSlam 2015 Results: Matches Fans Will Be Rewatching for Years

Aaron BowerAug 25, 2015

Even though Sunday's SummerSlam pay-per-view featured plenty of confusion and ultimately disappointment, there were some bouts that fans will remember for the right reasons.

A four-hour show was inevitably going to feature some standout matches that would have people talking afterward, and thankfully, that proved to be the case.

Admittedly, some of the 10 matches were forgettable, but here are three bouts in particular that fans will be rewatching for a number of reasons.

Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro

It wasn't the finest match Cesaro or Kevin Owens has competed in throughout his WWE career, but their meeting at SummerSlam was still a thoroughly enjoyable match.

There were plenty of incredible moments and spots throughout the match, which was perhaps no more than WWE fans would have expected with these two in-ring technicians.

You only have to go back through their meetings over the last few years before they joined WWE to see what they can do in the ring, and thankfully, they managed to deliver at SummerSlam.

Think back to Owens' brilliant dives and flips, Cesaro's sheer brutality and European-influenced wrestling, and that impressive suplex Owens executed to eventually set Cesaro up for the Pop-Up Powerbomb.

It was the most aesthetically pleasing match of the night and one fans would probably love even more if they watched it again. And if both wrestlers manage to ascend to the higher levels of WWE, this first meeting on PPV will act as a handy bookmark for the true beginning of their rivalry in the company.

Seth Rollins vs. John Cena

Was it spoiled by the finish? Potentially.

But that doesn't stop Seth Rollins' bout with John Cena from smacking of sheer brilliance from start to (almost) finish. It was full of high-velocity, high-octane wrestling and plenty of drama that kept fans gripped.

Credit has to go to Cena to a certain degree here. He gets slated for the quality of his matches, especially in recent years, but he's really stepped up lately with bouts against the likes of Kevin Owens and Cesaro.

Those matches helped him prepare well for perhaps WWE's finest in-ring architect at the moment and enabled the two to have a classic bout for their respective titles.

They seem to work well together when performing against each other, and both raised their game to produce one of the best matches of the evening.

Rollins, of course, brought his unpredictable and exciting energy to the match, with dives, flips and reversals. It ensured plenty of unpredictability and brought eruptions from those inside the Barclays Center.

All told, it was probably Cena's best world title match in years.

Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker

You might think that a match with a screwjob controversial ending wouldn't be one fans would be keen to rewatch, but that's probably not the case with the main event of SummerSlam.

The chance to see Brock Lesnar and Undertaker square off again at a major show was 15 months in the making, and the action managed to deliver on a decent level until that confusing finish that involved Lesnar getting cheated.

So in years to come, when fans look at the latter years of Undertaker's career, this match will be one of the first that gets revisited alongside the ending of his streak at WrestleMania XXX.

As he's wrestling less and less frequently, his matches become more and more fascinating. Seeing him fight Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania was largely predictable and unimpressive, whereas this match had much more significance.

Moreover, fans will be watching to witness a rare defeat for Lesnarclean or not. It's not that clear when his next loss will come around, after all.
