Arsenal Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Grzegorz Krychowiak, Gedion Zelalem
Sevilla star Grzegorz Krychowiak is still being linked with a move to Arsenal, with the Daily Telegraph's Jason Burt the latest to comment on the ongoing transfer saga.
When asked by fans who he believes the Gunners might add before the end of the window, Burt gave a clear response:

The 25-year-old Poland international was one of Sevilla's top performers last season, playing a pivotal role in the club's run to the Europa League title. Arsene Wenger previously stated he is not currently looking at adding the player, per Goal's Stefan Coerts. However, that hasn't stopped reporters from speculating, given his £21 million release clause, via Metro's Jamie Sanderson.
Francis Coquelin will be the Gunners' starter at the holding-midfield position, but the squad lacks depth behind the Frenchman. Add to that Coquelin's physical playing style and the likelihood of suspensions, and it's easy to see why the Gunners would love to add another midfielder.
Bleacher Report's Andy Brassell gave some more information on the player, and he likes his fit at the Emirates Stadium:
With Krychowiak's contract holding the modest release clause, this is a transfer Wenger could potentially hold off on until the very last minute, as the only thing required to facilitate the move would be to convince the player.
It will likely come down to Wenger's faith in Coquelin, as Krychowiak, who is set to play in the Champions League with Sevilla, would only be joining Arsenal as a starter. He won't be backing up Coquelin, and trying to sell him on the idea of an open battle for the starting position may prove tricky.
ESPN FC's John Brewin knows Wenger has always stuck by his young compatriot, and he is likely to do the same this time around:
"Wenger kept faith with Coquelin. A pride and trust in a player brought up within his system since he was 17 is admirable, a reflection of a continuing belief in youth products in an age in which importing mercenary talent is most other clubs' route to success. Wenger's great rival, Sir Alex Ferguson, had a comparable belief in those he had brought through, although there is a distinct difference.
"
Coquelin has his limitations and adds little to the attack, but he has the talent to be a very good holding midfielder. It's unlikely he'll be benched anytime soon, unless a truly elite talent is brought into the squad, and his status within the club works against any move for Krychowiak.
At Sevilla, he's one of the biggest stars, particularly following the departure of Carlos Bacca for AC Milan. The Spanish side have been steadily rising in the past few seasons and has plenty to offer, so unless the Gunners can convince the Pole he's the guy to fix all of their issues in midfield, he's more likely to stay put.
Gedion Zelalem Closing in on Rangers Move

The Daily Record is certain Arsenal youngster Gedion Zelalem will move to Glasgow to join Rangers on a loan deal, and it announced the completion of the move on its website on Saturday.
The rumour has been floating around social media for days, but it now appears an official announcement is imminent.
Zelalem is regarded as one of Arsenal's top young talents, showing flashes of his potential in a handful of appearances for the senior side while dominating for the team's youth squads. The 18-year-old looked impressive during pre-season but lacks the experience to contribute on the highest level right away.
Writing for the Guardian, Graham Ruthven believes Rangers present an excellent destination:
"Under new ownership and management, Rangers – for so long a toxic headline – look like a functional soccer side again. While McCoist’s side was a mishmash of washed-up and worn-out names, Warburton’s team are dynamic, incisive and exciting – making them the perfect fit for Zelalem. Scottish soccer is better than is often credited, but it’s also true that at such a level the German-born USA youth international would be a shining star in a winning team – and nothing builds confidence and stature like winning. In soccer terms, a move would appear to suit all three vested parties.
"
The German-born American is already a gifted technician with superb vision and scoring ability, but the physical side of his game has yet to develop. If there's one thing he'll learn in Scotland, it's the benefit of adding a few pounds of muscle and the importance of physicality in the modern game.
As a superb playmaker, Zelalem should shine for Rangers, who are expected to dominate the Scottish Championship and finally move back to the Premier League next season.
