Gordon's Injury Latest Blow to Slow Start to NFL Career
It wasn't exactly a breakout rookie season for Gordon, who only rushed for more than 80 yards in a single game once this season. Through 13 games, he's rushed for 600 yards in a pass-heavy Chargers offense while also seeing over 75 carries go to backup Danny Woodhead.
For a running back who was supposed to reignite the Chargers backfield, Gordon saw the ball on just five percent of offensive snaps this season.
Which has Gordon vowing that the 2016 season will be different, per Gehlken:
"My time will come. I promise you: I’ll make it happen. I always start off rough like this. I don’t know why. It just always happens to me on every single level (of football). This one, it sucks. It sucks every time; it’s never good. But I guess you’ve got to have some bad, to make some mistakes to learn from it. I’m going to be better. This whole team is going to be better. I can promise you that. This record will not be the same next year. I promise you.
"
Woodhead got the bulk of the carries with Donald Brown backing him up to close out the season.
