Marchisio Out For Udinese, Roma
Tuesday, August 18
Juve relayed the extent of Marchisio's injury on Tuesday, indicating that the Italy international would be sidelined for almost three weeks: "Claudio Marchisio will be sidelined for approximately 20 days after medical examinations revealed a first-grade proximal myotendinous junction tear in his right rectus femoris muscle. The midfielder missed out on training today and will now commence his rehabilitation programme."
The new Serie A season gets under way for the Old Lady on Sunday with a home clash against Udinese. But most significantly, Marchisio also looks set to miss an away trip to Roma on August 30, per Serie A expert James Horncastle:
As indicated by Horncastle, Sami Khedira is also set to be absent for the start of the new season, while striker Alvaro Morata is also a potential absentee for the Roma clash.
Marchisio's injury is the latest blow for Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri, and the defending champions will have to start the new Serie A season without a handful of their key players.
