Ryan Seymour Suspended for PED Violation: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
The Cleveland Browns lost some depth along their offensive line Monday because guard Ryan Seymour was suspended four games for a PED violation, per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Seymour is fighting for a roster spot in training camp this season, but he appeared in 11 games in 2014 and even started three contests at center after Alex Mack broke his leg. The former seventh-round draft pick has worked as a reserve center behind Mack in training camp.
Seymour addressed the suspension in a statement, per Tom Reed of the Northeast Ohio Media Group:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Seymour is not expected to start for the Browns this season, but he does provide important depth for one of the bright spots on the team. Pro Football Focus ranked Cleveland’s offensive line as the league’s sixth-best a season ago, and Seymour deserves some credit for that because of his versatility in the face of injury.
However, Cleveland has Joel Bitonio, John Greco and rookie Cameron Erving as potential guards and should have enough pieces to deal with Seymour’s suspension. Bitonio and Greco provide consistency and proven ability, and Erving represents impressive upside as someone who could quickly become a staple along the line.
Seymour is eligible to continue practicing and even appear in preseason games, but this suspension certainly hurt his chances at making the team.
Even though the former Vanderbilt Commodore played an important role last year, the Browns are deep on the offensive line, and there are only so many roster spots to go around. He was fighting for his spot before being ruled ineligible for 25 percent of the season.
