Watch Malachi Toney Hit Heisman Pose in Trending Video After TD in Miami Opener vs. Stanford

Miami wide receiver Malachi Toney made an early case for his Heisman Trophy candidacy on Friday.

After scoring a touchdown on the first possession of the No. 7 Hurricanes' season-opening matchup with Stanford, Toney hit the Heisman Trophy pose in the end zone.

Toney followed that up with another touchdown on Miami's second drive of the game. You can take a guess as to what pose he hit in celebration:

The sophomore receiver caught three passes for 75 yards and a touchdown on Miami's opening drive.

Toney is coming off a productive 2025 campaign, as he led the country with 109 receptions.

His 1,211 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches also were the most among all ACC players last season.

Toney particularly excelled during Miami's College Football Playoff run, which ended in the national championship game. During the Hurricanes' final two CFP contests, he caught 15 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns.

With Toney now playing alongside new Miami quarterback Darian Mensah, expectations are high for him.

Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal previously praised Toney during ACC media days in July.

"All you can really say is that guy is special. I've never seen anything like him," Cristobal said, per 247Sports' David Lake. "Normally a receiver with his talent and production is a diva. He's the total opposite. He produces at a high level and he only becomes hungrier to get better, work harder, and somehow he gets more humble. He can do it all. He can go deep, he can create explosives in the quick game, you can give him the ball as a runner, you can let him throw the ball, he is a tremendous blocker, he can return punts—he does it all. Special player and elite human being."

Toney is attempting to become the third Miami player to earn Heisman Trophy honors and the first since Gino Torretta in 1992.
