Next up? UFC 191

This is a sneaky-good card featuring a wealth of talent in both the smallest and the biggest UFC weight classes. Topped by the flyweight title rematch between Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson and backed up with major fights at both heavyweight and light heavyweight, it's a card that will likely bring both technical brilliance and good ol' fashioned face punching.

So what should you look out for heading into next week?

How Awesome Will John Lineker vs. Francisco Rivera Be?

1 of 5

The Fight: Francisco Rivera vs. John Lineker
The Real Fight: Slugger vs. Slugger

The Stakes

Francisco Rivera and John Lineker are the two heaviest hitters at 135 pounds...and they are set to square off. Lineker is back at 135 pounds after a solid run at flyweight (that was marred by frequent scale-related kerfuffles), and could be a big addition to the division. Rivera rebounded from his losing streak by demolishing Alex Caceres, and could easily find himself back on the fast track to the top. This is a deceptively big fight for the bantamweight division.

The Question

How awesome will John Lineker vs. Francisco Rivera be?

Analysis

From both a competitive and title perspective, this could lead to big things for both men. For the fans, though, this is two of the greatest knockout artists under 155 pounds getting into the cage to slug it out.

This is your Fight of the Night favorite, ladies and gentlemen!

Is Jan Blachowicz Going to Become the Next Big UFC Free-Agent Bust?

2 of 5

The Fight: Jan Blachowicz vs. Corey Anderson
The Real Fight: Jan Blachowicz vs. Hard Times

The Stakes

Expectations were high when Jan Blachowicz signed with the UFC and debuted with an impressive knockout of Ilir Latifi. The hype died down in a big way, however, when he was outpointed by Jimi Manuwa. Now, the Polish light heavyweight looks to recapture fans' imaginations with a match against TUF19 winner Corey Anderson.

The Question

Is Jan Blachowicz going to become the next big UFC free-agent bust?

Analysis

High-profile imports like Blachowicz have it tough. While the “UFC vs. The World” mentality isn't as pervasive as it was back in the days of Pride, there is still a considerable chunk of the MMA fanbase that will view any stumble, be it perceived or real, as a sign that champions from other promotions just don't hold up against “UFC-caliber competition” (whatever that means). While the standard-issue UFC fan isn't actively rooting against fighters like Blachowicz anymore, they're no less quick to jump to conclusions.

Though his fight against the No. 7-ranked Manuwa was reasonably competitive, the perception with Blachowicz right now is that he doesn't have what it takes to make an impact in the UFC. If he wants to change minds, it will have to start here with a big win over Anderson.

Could Jimi Manuwa Possibly Pull This Off?

3 of 5

The Fight: Anthony Johnson vs. Jimi Manuwa
The Real Fight: Underappreciated Knockout Artist vs. Accurately Appreciated Knockout Artist

The Stakes

Anthony "Rumble" Johnson is back in the cage following his loss to Daniel Cormier and has a deceptively stiff test ahead of him in Jimi Manuwa. The British slugger is one of the hardest hitters in MMA today, and Johnson is no less susceptible to his power. It will be interesting to see if Manuwa can set himself up for a surprise title berth with a win over the former contender.

The Question

Could Jimi Manuwa possibly pull this off?

Analysis

The thought of Manuwa winning is undoubtedly hard for some to wrap their heads around. On paper, this fight is pretty much a squash match designed to keep Rumble ready to step into a rematch with Alexander Gustafsson.

That said, Manuwa, like Johnson, is quick to snowball toward victory. Unlike Johnson, however, the Posterboy isn't quick to crack under pressure. If Manuwa manages to get control of the pace early, he could pull off one of the year's biggest upsets.

Which Veteran Heavyweight Will Keep His Resurgence Going?

4 of 5

The Fight: Andrei Arlovski vs. Frank Mir
The Real Fight: My Brain vs. Comprehending How These Two Are Winning in the UFC in 2015

The Stakes

Andrei Arlovski and Frank Mir have both done the impossible over the last 12 months; they've come back from devastating four-fight losing streaks as 30-something-year-old heavyweights. Unfortunately, set to throw down in the co-main event of UFC 191, one of their Cinderella stories is doomed to come to a close.

The Question

Which veteran heavyweight will keep their resurgence going?

Analysis

What more can be said about the returns of Arlovski and Mir? They're absurd, and they challenge everything we thought we knew about the MMA career cycle.

One of these two will potentially go on to a top-contender bout against a Stipe Miocic or Junior dos Santos after this fight. The other, unfortunately, will likely have the path to gold permanently close on them.

Can John Dodson Upend Demetrious Johnson?

5 of 5

The Fight: Demetrious Johnson vs. John Dodson
The Real Fight: John Dodson vs. The Best Fighter in MMA Today

The Stakes

At one point, Demetrious Johnson seemed beatable. Like his title reign would be a trivial fact, rather than something special. But month by month, fight by fight, Mighty Mouse became an unstoppable force unlike any other in MMA today.

Now he faces an old foe in John Dodson. He was one of the fighters that made Johnson look decent, but not particularly remarkable, during the early days of his reign. If Johnson can dominate Dodson the way he has dominated his other recent foes, it will cement his place as the top pound-for-pound fighter in today's Jon Jones-less MMA landscape.

The Question

Can John Dodson upend Demetrious Johnson?

Analysis

At long last, Johnson seems to be getting the respect he deserves. It took long enough, of course. The flyweight champ has defended his title six times, finishing four of those fights. While some may question the legitimacy of his competition on the whole, it's hard to argue with a 50-45 win over a formidable Ali Bagautinov and a face-peeling first-round KO of Joseph Benavidez.

If he once again adds Dodson to his list of victims, and if he does so in that kind of dominant fashion, it will mean he has truly, honestly cleared out his division in a way that we haven't seen in a long time.
