UFC Legend Tyron Woodley Snaps 8-Year Losing Streak After Win at RAF 12 Before Khamzat Chimaev Fight
UFC legend Tyron Woodley had his hand raised in victory for the first time in eight years at RAF 12 on Saturday night.
Woodley, who hadn't won in MMA or boxing since a 2018 UFC welterweight title defense against Darren Till, recorded a 14-8 comeback victory over UFC veteran Joaquin Buckley in his RAF debut.
Things appeared dire for Woodley early on, as he fell behind 8-0 against Buckley. However, he chipped away at the lead with multiple reversals before landing a huge takedown to seal the win.
"I knew better [than to underestimate Buckley]," Woodley said after the match, per Damon Martin of MMA Fighting. "It's bragging rights. When I got down, I didn't lose my composure."
Woodley already has his next match lined up, as he will face former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev in the main event of RAF Moscow on Sept. 5. Saturday's win will surely give him some confidence as he goes up against an aggressive wrestler like Chimaev next month.
