Arsenal Transfer News: Grzegorz Krychowiak Exit Clause to Be Met, Latest Rumours
Arsenal are closing in on the signing of defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak as the Gunners are reportedly prepared to meet the Sevilla player's buyout clause.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Metro's Jamie Sanderson), the north London outfit will pay Poland international Krychowiak's €30 million (£21.4million) buyout clause to sign him this summer as manager Arsene Wenger looks to add depth to his squad.
The 25-year-old played a key role for Sevilla last season. He appeared 32 times as they finished fifth in La Liga and started every match in the triumphant 2014-15 Europa League campaign, recorded by WhoScored.com.

Krychowiak would bring some much-needed competition and depth to the deep-lying midfield role; though Francis Coquelin is talented, he cannot be relied upon to be fit and in form for every game of the season, per Bleacher Report's Andy Brassell:
In the past, Arsenal and Wenger have been guilty of naivety, believing they can challenge for the Premier League title without the requisite squad depth. Cover is needed across all positions in order to deal with the travails of a full season.
As demonstrated in the Guardian, many have tipped Arsenal to finally challenge for the title this season, but they are still lacking proper cover in certain key areas—specifically up front and in defensive midfield.
The signing of Krychowiak could solve at least one of these issues, but he will be an expensive addition to the Arsenal squad, as Sevilla are unlikely to let him go without his buyout clause being met.
Sport Witness, though, is convinced the Gunners should sign him up: "Arsenal back in for Krychowiak, which is very good [for] them, and he's already more than hinted he'd say yes. Krychowiak would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal, they should just do it."
Krychowiak would add necessary steel to an Arsenal squad often criticised for its vulnerability. He played all 120 minutes of Sevilla's epic 5-4 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday with a cracked rib, per an official club statement (h/t Goal's Matthew Scott).
Furthermore, he is versatile. He can also play at centre-back, which would give Wenger further cover in defence as well as midfield.
A similarly versatile player—but in an attacking sense—is Julian Draxler. Arsenal continue to be linked with the German winger amid reports Schalke would be prepared to let him go for the right price, per talkSPORT.
Krychowiak's buyout clause may be high, but if Arsenal are going to genuinely compete for the title over an entire season, they have to spend money.
The addition of Krychowiak would leave the Gunners just a striker away from having a squad capable of winning the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
