Mayweather vs. Berto: Fight Time, Online Odds and Projected Winner
One last hurrah for Floyd Mayweather and his undefeated record. One last chance to make a case that he is one of the greatest boxers ever. One last chance for challenger Andre Berto to live up to his early career expectations and shock the world.
The two will face off at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, September 12 at 8 p.m. ET for the welterweight title, with Mayweather entering as the favorite. Here is a look at the latest odds and projected winner:
| Mayweather Wins | 1/30 |
| Berto Wins | 11/1 |
| Fight Goes the Distance | 5/12 |
All signs are pointing to a Mayweather victory. Once regarded as one of the best up-and-coming fighters, Berto started his career with a 27-0 record. But since then he has won just three of his last six fights and has the Boxing Writers Association of America's Kevin McRae wondering what could have been:
Mayweather remains unbeaten at 48-0-0 entering Saturday night and holds advantages in most key categories against Berto:
| Record | 30-3 (23 KO's) | 48-0 (26 KO's) |
| Age | 31 | 38 |
| Height | 5'6 1/2" | 5'8" |
| Reach | 68.5" | 72" |
| Stance | Orthodox | Orthodox |
One thing Berto will have to try to exploit is the age difference. Rigorous training could have him in great shape to face Mayweather, which could give him a chance to last longer in the ring.
If he makes Mayweather try and chase him around, tiring him out in any way, an opportunity for Berto could open up to drop him.
But Mayweather has been around too long and faced some of the best in the world. He'll most certainly have a few tricks up his sleeve to deal with Berto. It wouldn't be a surprise if he treats this fight much like the Manny Pacquiao fight from May.
At any point where he might feel vulnerable, Mayweather might run or simply hug Berto until the official breaks things up. Either way, the odds are stacked against Berto, and he might need a big break if he wants to pull off a titanic upset.
