Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Harry Kane and Javier Hernandez Rumours
It has been revealed that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy and Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward held a meeting in May to discuss the transfer of Harry Kane—with the former firmly ruling out the sale of the youngster.
According to the Guardian's David Hytner, the pair met "as stories first emerged of United’s interest in Kane and he [Levy] made it plain that he would not entertain any bids for his club’s prized asset. That position has not changed."
United are in need of more firepower following the sales of Robin van Persie and Angel Di Maria, while Radamel Falcao's loan spell at Old Trafford also came to an end with the Red Devils opting not to make his stay permanent.

Currently, the Red Devils only have the inexperienced James Wilson and the seemingly out of favour Javier Hernandez as their only alternatives to Wayne Rooney as a central striker, so bringing in a forward is a necessity if United are to mount a serious title challenge this season.

Per Hytner's report, United boss Louis van Gaal admitted as much following his side's 1-0 win over Spurs on Saturday. He said: "When we can buy another striker, who has a lot of qualities, more than our players, then we buy."
United's interest in Kane is therefore understandable, with the 22-year-old having enjoyed a phenomenal breakout year for Spurs last season, per Opta Joe:
However, as Hytner reports, with Tottenham attempting to move on Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado, the sale of Kane this summer looks incredibly unlikely as the Lilywhites have no other senior strikers available.
Jonas Giaever is sceptical of the hype surrounding Kane and believes the forward needs to prove his ability consistently over a longer period:
"I'm not buying the Harry Kane hype. Had one very good season, no doubt. But so did Andy Carroll, James Beattie and Kevin Phillips.

As outstanding as Kane was last year, history is filled with one-season wonders who were never able to replicate their form over a career.
That being the case, United are probably better off waiting to see if the striker can match last season's exploits again before making a move.
Either way Levy will ensure any suitors will pay sky-high fees for Kane, so it would be best to know he's the real deal before splashing the cash.
Race to Sign Javier Hernandez Hotting Up
According to Adrian Kajumba of the Mirror, Hernandez's list of suitors this summer now comprises Spurs, West Ham United and Italian outfit Torino.
Per Kajumba's report, Torino are seeking a loan deal for the forward and are "ready to strike a deal that will see the 27-year-old join them permanently if he plays an agreed number of games."

The Mexican international remains a popular figure among the Old Trafford faithful, but he was sent out on loan to Real Madrid last season, where he hit seven goals and registered four assists in just 859 La Liga minutes.
Hernandez is an experienced striker and a proven goalscorer in the Premier League where he has scored 37 goals, largely featuring from the bench.
Though Chicharito has been given little opportunity to prove himself to Van Gaal, it seems unlikely the Dutchman will be willing to part with him until a replacement can be secured.
Expect Hernandez to stay, at least until United bring in another centre-forward, but don't expect that player to be Kane.
