New LeBron James Rumors Reveal 'Friendly' Chat with 76ers Governor Ahead of Next Team Decision
LeBron James reportedly isn't taking direct meetings with teams in free agency, but Philadelphia 76ers governor Josh Harris was able to track him down on Friday.
According to NBC 10's John Clark, Harris had a "brief, friendly conversation" with James during a VIP event at Fanatics Fest in New York. According to Clark, Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown have told James "they would love to have him join the team."
While seemingly every team was interested in James this offseason, the 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves have widely been reported as his top landing spots.
Earlier this week, James said during a live episode of The Shop that he's "trusting the process" this offseason, a comment that almost certainly has Sixers fans on the edge of their seats.
When exactly James plans to make a decision remains to be seen, but ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported Friday that the four-time MVP is "truly getting much closer to a decision" and that one could come "in the early part of next week."
