WWE's AJ Styles Reacts to Son Avery's Debut Match After Viral Videos
For WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles, being "Phenomenal" apparently runs in the family.
Styles' son, Avery, made his professional wrestling debut at a Squared Circle Action event in Royston, Georgia, over the weekend against indie wrestler Ashton Martin. Styles got to watch his son use his patented Styles Clash finisher before personally giving him the three-count for the win in a now-viral video:

"It was a big day. Avery, my second oldest, had his first match, his debut match," Styles said afterward, per WrestlePurists. "And it got to be so big that it went from being semi-main event to the main event of the show. And I don't think they disappointed anyone whatsoever. Ashton Martin, Avery Styles, it was a main event."
Styles went on to praise both Avery and Martin for putting on a performance well beyond their experience levels.
"Listen, I've never been so impressed with two young guys. I think Ashton's maybe a year, year and a half in. And then of course, this is Avery's debut match. And there's a lot of things that we do with all this energy when we have that young energy that we use it in the wrong way," Styles said. "They used it really, really well. They didn't rush through anything. They took their time on things they should have. And listen, it's not going to be perfect, but this is a debut match for Avery, and Ashton hadn't had that many matches. So to see them do so well in a main event, both of them, I was blown away."
One of the top highlights of the match came when Avery wowwed the crowd by hitting a Phenomenal Forearm off the guardrail.
Avery blew his father away with the move as well, as Styles went on to admit that his son did better than he did in his debut wrestling match. It sounds like Avery has a bright future in the wrestling business and could follow his legendary dad's footsteps all the way to WWE.
"If you would have seen my first match, terrible. Terrible," Styles said. "But these guys did really, really well. I am so impressed with everything they've done, their training and everything. To see them put together that match and execute it so well, blown away. He's better than me as far as his debut. For him to pull off a springboard off the guardrail, little things like that, the timing, beautiful."
