WWE Night of Champions, AEW Forbidden Door and NXT Predictions Ahead of Wild Weekend

Chris MuellerJun 26, 2026

This weekend is going to be one of the busiest of the year for wrestling fans as WWE, NXT and AEW all put on major events.

WWE will hold Night of Champions on Saturday, while NXT Great American Bash and AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door will take place on Sunday.

As of Friday morning, the three events have 23 total matches scheduled to take place. We will see tons of titles on the line, WWE will crown a new King and Queen of the Ring, and All Elite Wrestling will be joined by New Japan Pro-Wrestling, CMLL and Stardom for one of its biggest shows of the year.

Let's go through each event and make some predictions.

The Cards

1 of 11

NXT Great American Bash

  • Shiloh Hill vs. Tristan Angels
  • Dion Lennox vs. Saquon Shugars
  • Zaria vs. Tatum Paxley (Women's NXT North American Championship)
  • Myles Borne vs. Tavion Heights (NXT North American Championship)
  • Wren Sinclair vs. Arianna Grace (WWE Women's Speed Championship)
  • Tony D'Angelo vs. Naraku (NXT Championship)
  • Lola Vice vs. Kendal Grey (NXT Women's Championship)

WWE Night of Champions

  • Jey Uso vs. Oba Femi (King of the Ring Finals)
  • Iyo Sky vs. Liv Morgan (Queen of the Ring Finals)
  • Trick Williams vs. Ricky Saints (United States Championship)
  • Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill (Women's United States Championship)
  • Bron Breakker vs. Seth Rollins (Steel Cage match)
  • Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther vs. Sami Zayn (Undisputed WWE Championship)

AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door

  • Divine Dominion vs. Thunder Rosa and Olympia (AEW Women's World Tag Team Championship)
  • Adam Copeland and Christian Cage vs. The Dogs (AEW World Tag Team Championship)
  • Jon Moxley vs. Bandido (AEW Continental Championship)
  • Shota Umino vs. Pac (IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship)
  • Thekla vs. Starlight Kid (AEW Women's World Championship)
  • Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
  • The Young Bucks vs. El Sky Team vs. Unbound Co.
  • Team Briscoe vs. Team MJF (Steel Cage match)
  • Maya World vs. Mercedes Mone (Women's Owen Hart Cup Final)
  • Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland (Men's Owen Hart Cup Final)

Men's and Women's NXT North American Championships

2 of 11
NXT

Both the men's and women's NXT North American Championships will be on the line this weekend when Myles Borne battles Tavion Heights, and Zaria takes on Tatum Paxley.

For Zaria and Paxley, this is a fresh feud. They haven't done much together in NXT, so the new champion is going to have to contend with the brand's resident wild card.

Borne and Heights, on the other hand, have a long history due to their time in NQCC together. They have remained on friendly terms, but this fight is about gold.

Both matches will be fun in different ways, but neither title feels like it's in danger of changing hands. Zaria's reign only just started, and Borne is still trying to establish himself as a solo act. Neither should be dropping their belt right now.

Predictions: Borne and Zaria retain their titles

Men's and Women's NXT Championship Matches

3 of 11
NXT

Lola Vice and Tony D'Angelo will each face different challengers this weekend for their NXT titles. Vice will have to take on Grey, and Tony D will be facing Naraku.

Naraku is still new to NXT, and while giving him the title right away would be an effective way to push him, that hasn't felt like what WWE is planning.

Tony D is still getting his feet wet as the champion, so he is likely going to come away with the win.

Vice is in a similar spot, having not held the title for very long, but the outcome of her match is not as certain. Grey has quickly climbed the ranks in WWE to become a standout performer, and it wouldn't be shocking to see her given a huge push right now.

Vice is still the safer bet, but by a much smaller margin than D'Angelo.

Predictions: Vice and D'Angelo retain their titles

The Rest of Great American Bash

4 of 11
NXT

The only other title match on the card will see Sinclair put the Speed title on the line against Grace. This feels designed to give Sinclair an easy victory to establish her title reign.

Hill and Angels are both newcomers to NXT, but Hill has had more time to make a name for himself. Since this is the first big opportunity for Angels, we're going to have to pick him to score the win.

The match between Shugars and Lennox is much more personal, and it's also the hardest to predict on the card. Both men would benefit greatly from a singles win on a big platform.

Lennox still has DarkState to back him up, but Shugars is trying to figure out how to be a solo act. Since he won't have backup, we're picking Lennox to win thanks to help from his stablemates.

Predictions: Sinclair, Angels and Lennox win

King and Queen of the Ring

5 of 11
Monday Night RAW

The King and Queen of the Ring tournaments have been taking place for the past few weeks, but all that is left is the finals this weekend.

Femi and Uso will fight for the title of King, while Morgan and Sky compete to see who will be Queen.

While Roman Reigns has been hyping up Uso as the one to take down Cody Rhodes, Femi still feels like the safer pick for Saturday. He is clearly being groomed as a top star, and winning the KOTR will help catapult him up that ladder.

With Morgan already holding one of the top women's titles, it makes zero sense for her to win the QOTR so she can challenge for the other one. With that being said, Sky is our pick to win.

Predictions: Femi and Sky become King and Queen

Men's and Women's United States Championships

SmackDown

Williams and Stratton will each have to put their U.S. titles on the line this weekend against Saints and Cargill, respectively.

On a weekend when WWE and AEW are both holding major events, it's funny to see two former AEW stars challenging for titles in WWE.

Neither champion has had their belt for long, so neither feels like they are in real danger of losing the title quite yet.

Carmelo Hayes might get involved to cost Saints his shot, but Cargill has Michin and B-Fab to give her a potential edge against Stratton. Still, we don't see it being enough to move the belt from Tiffy to Jade.

Predictions: Stratton and Williams retain their titles

Night of Champions Grudge Matches

7 of 11
SmackDown

NoC will feature two significant grudge matches, but only one will have gold on the line.

Breakker and Rollins are looking to finally put their feud to bed when they fight inside a steel cage, while Rhodes is hoping he can overcome both Gunther and Zayn to retain his Undisputed WWE Championship.

Breakker got the win at Backlash, and Rollins evened the score on the June 1 episode of Raw, so this is the rubber match. Rollins might be the safer pick, but we're going with Breakker because it feels like WWE wants to build him into a main event player this year.

As for Rhodes, Gunther and Zayn are going to end up preventing each other from winning, and The American Nightmare is going to benefit from it by retaining his title.

Predictions: Breakker and Rhodes win

Men's and Women's Owen Hart Tournament Finals

8 of 11

The Owen Hart Tournament has had a couple of surprises this year, but now it all comes down to the finals. Maya World will fight Mercedes Mone, and Will Ospreay will battle Swerve Strickland.

Maya making it to the finals has been a welcome surprise in the tournament, but her underdog story is going to come to an end when she takes on Mone.

Swerve vs. Ospreay is harder to predict. Both men would make great winners and challengers for the world title at Wembley Stadium, but that match taking place in England gives Billy Goat the edge.

Having Ospreay win his first world title in front of fans in his home country at the biggest show of the year is too big of an opportunity to pass up.

Predictions: Mone and Ospreay win

Men's and Women's AEW Tag Titles

9 of 11

The AEW women's tag titles will be on the line when Megan Bayne and Lena Kross defend the belts against Thunder Rosa and Olympia.

As fun as this match will be, Divine Dominion is not about to lose the belts to a random duo who have not established themselves. This is one of the easier predictions on the card.

The men's tag titles will be contested between The Dogs and the duo of Cope and Cage. This one is a bit trickier.

While Copeland and Cage retaining is a likelier scenario, it wouldn't be shocking to see The Dogs pull off the upset and win the gold.

David Finley and Clark Connors have been a welcome addition to AEW, and if Tony Khan wants to give them a boost, strapping them up with the tag titles is the way to do it, which is why we are picking them despite being underdogs in this scenario.

Predictions: Divine Dominion retains, The Dogs win the men's tag titles

Non-Title Forbidden Door Matches

10 of 11

Other than the finals for the Owen Hart Tournament, there are only three non-title matches scheduled for Forbidden Door.

Omega and Sabre have crossed paths a handful of times, but their only previous singles matches both saw Omega get the win. The last time they fought was back in 2018, so both men are very different now.

NJPW needs a marquee win at this event, and having ZSJ defeat the pride and joy of AEW is the way to do it. Omega can recover from the loss, so Sabre winning makes the most sense.

As for the other non-title bout, The Young Bucks will take on Unbound Co. and El Sky Team in a three-way tag match. With the other two teams not having a huge presence during the buildup to the PPV, this one seems like a lock for the Bucks.

The third non-title match will see 12 men step inside a steel cage. If Team Briscoe wins, Mark Briscoe will earn a world title shot. Since Team MJF won the 12-man tag on last week's Dynamite, Team Briscoe is almost certainly winning at the PPV.

Predictions: The Young Bucks Team Briscoe and Zack Sabre Jr. win

AEW Singles Title Matches

11 of 11

Three singles titles will be on the line this weekend, and unfortunately, all three outcomes feel predictable.

When it comes to Pac vs. Umino, it's very unlikely that one of NJPW's premiere championships will change hands here, especially with Umino not making any appearances on AEW TV to hype the match.

Pac's fellow Death Rider, Moxley, will also defend his continental title when he faces Bandido, who already has the ROH world title around his waist. Again, this feels like an easy prediction to make with Mox retaining.

Last but not least, Thekla will put the women's world title on the line against Starlight Kid from Stardom. And the outcome again seems obvious.

Thekla is not about to lose AEW's top women's championship to someone the majority of the AEW audience hasn't met outside of a video package.

Predictions: Everyone retains their titles
