Official details of the contract were not available, but NFL Network's Rand Getlin reported it was a "two-year extension" that the Bills gave him "to reward him for his contributions."

After agreeing to the extension, Robey told Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com that he's happy to know his career in Buffalo will continue for the foreseeable future.

“It feels great,” he said. “I just feel extremely blessed right now. I just kept my faith in the Buffalo Bills organization and they believe in me and see the talent that I have. We got on common ground and now I’m here for another few years and now I can just play football.”

Per Joe Buscaglia of WKBW, Bills general manager Doug Whaley praised Robey's growth since he was signed as an undrafted free agent out of USC in 2013:

Bleacher Report NFL writer Dan Hope was pleased to see the Bills lock up Robey, noting the former USC star has become a solid nickel cornerback in his first two seasons.

Robey defended 18 passes, recovered three fumbles and notched four sacks in his first two years. He moved into a more prominent role last season, starting seven games and appearing in all 16.

The Bills have built one of the NFL's strongest defenses, finishing fourth in yards allowed and points in 2014. The team hired Rex Ryan, one of the NFL's best defensive minds, as its head coach in January.

Locking up a talented young player like Robey in the secondary shows that the Bills understand where their strength lies as they try to develop more consistency on offense. Teams can never have enough quality depth in the secondary, especially a team like Buffalo, which is stacked on the defensive line.
