Tiger Woods Reportedly Out for Open Championship, Misses All 4 Majors for 2nd Straight Season
Tiger Woods reportedly won't be in the field for this year's British Open, meaning he won't play a major for the second straight season.
According to Bob Harig of SI.com, "Woods is not exempt for next month's U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills and he did not enter the British Open field by the close of entries last week, although the R&A has yet to release an official field list."
The 50-year-old Woods has 15 major championships and 82 PGA Tour conquests during his legendary career but hasn't appeared at a major since the Open Championship in July 2024. He hasn't won a major since the 2019 Masters.
He also has not played competitively at all since 2024.
Woods won the British Open on three occasions (2000, 2005, 2006) and is exempt until he's 60, though it's a moot point if he doesn't register to play.
Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion at the event, which hasn't seen consecutive winners since Woods (2005-06) and Pรกdraig Harrington (2007-08).
