Ahmad Hardy's Rehab from Shooting Detailed by Missouri HC After Release from Hospital
Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz provided an update on running back Ahmad Hardy's recovery from being shot earlier this month.
"He's been rehabbing in our facility every morning at 9 a.m. We're a long way away from knowing what the football side will be," Drinkwitz said Tuesday, per ESPN's Pete Thamel.
The coach also said, "There's not a lot of return to play protocols for this particular injury."
On May 11, Missouri football released a statement that said the running back "was the victim of a shooting at a concert in Mississippi early Sunday morning and sustained a gunshot wound. Ahmad underwent surgery Sunday in Mississippi and is in stable condition."
Hardy himself provided an update last Wednesday.
"Hey everyone. I'm back in Columbia, starting the road to my rehab," he said in a video message. "I want to thank everybody for all the support and all your prayers, thank everybody for everything.
"And I'm back to the road to success."
Hardy started his collegiate career at Louisiana-Monroe and transferred to the Tigers ahead of the 2025 campaign. He was an All-American in his first season with Missouri with an SEC-best 1,649 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
Missouri starts its 2026 season against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sept. 3.
