Thursday Highlights
No. 1 Georgia 5, No. 8 Mississippi State 3
The top seed in the tournament is now two wins away from a title after handling Mississippi State in a 5-3 victory.
Georgia seized control in the fourth inning when Brennan Hudson launched a three-run homer to take a 4-1 lead and rode a strong overall pitching performance the rest of the way.
However, Mississippi State didn't go down without a fight and pushed across a run in the sixth with an RBI single from Ace Reese and another in the ninth with a solo homer from Noah Sullivan.
It also brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth after Sullivan's long ball, but Matt Scott closed the door.
Scott pitched four innings in relief and allowed just the single run while striking out three after starter Joey Volchko allowed just two runs in the first five innings.
No. 5 Florida 13, No. 4 Alabama 3 (8 innings)
Florida was so dominant Thursday, it didn't even need the full nine innings to dispatch of Alabama 13-3 in a run-rule game.
The Gators got solo homers from Brendan Lawson and Ethan Surowiec in the fourth inning to start the scoring and then took full control with five runs in the fifth.
Blake Cyr's two-RBI triple highlighted that offensive explosion in the fifth. It was his biggest hit in an impressive performance that saw him go 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a walk.
Five Florida players notched multiple hits with Surowiec going 4-for-5 with three runs and two doubles on top of the long ball.
It was more than enough run support for the Gators' pitching, especially with Liam Peterson allowing just a single earned run with eight strikeouts in five innings of work.
