Napoleon Solo Dominates
3 of 3
Taj Mahal may have taken the lead out of the gate Saturday at Laurel Park, but it was Napoleon Solo who raced to the front of the field in short order and never looked back, dominating the second leg of the 2026 Triple Crown en route to a victory for himself, jockey Paco Lopez, and trainer Chad Summers.
The three-year-old colt was the best horse on the track, never allowing Taj Mahal to find any open space and build on his speed.
From there, he held off Iron Honcho, who raced four-wide at one point and drew close to the front of the field.
An underdog victory for trainer Chad Summers, who proved he belongs in the elite races and is still a championship coach, and jockey Paco Lopez from Mexico, it will be one and done for the duo in the Triple Crown.
Summers announced after Saturday's win that Napoleon Solo will not race at Belmont, instead focusing on Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park.
The historic win will allow all involved to etch their names in the history books as winners of one of racing's most prestigious events, in a race that was never really in doubt.
