The Triple Crown won't be up for grabs this year after Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo was withdrawn from the Preakness Stakes, but another horse will have the chance to etch its name into the history books.
The official post positions for the 2026 Preakness Stakes were revealed on YouTube on Monday. Here's a look at the starting spots for each horse for Saturday's race at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.

Trainer Cherie DeVaux, who is the first woman ever to train a Kentucky Derby winner, announced Wednesday that Golden Tempo will skip the Preakness to prepare for the Belmont Stakes on June 6 at Saratoga Race Course in upstate New York. DeVaux is a Saratoga Springs native, and this is the final year that the city is hosting the Belmont.
"We are incredibly appreciative of the excitement and support surrounding the possibility of a Triple Crown run," DeVaux said in a statement. "Golden gave us the race of a lifetime in the Kentucky Derby, and we believe the best decision for him moving forward is to give him a little more time following such a tremendous effort. His health, happiness and long-term future will always remain our top priority."
This marks the sixth time in the last eight years that the Triple Crown won't be on the line at the Preakness. American Pharoah (2015) and Justify (2018) remain the only horses to win the Triple Crown in the last 48 years.
None of the 18 horses that ran the Kentucky Derby will be in the Preakness this year, and Golden Tempo was the only one even under consideration.
With Golden Tempo out of the running, the field is wide open. Chip Honcho is being raced by Kentucky Derby-winning jockey Jose Ortiz. Taj Mahal enters the race undefeated.
