Reigns, WWE Reportedly Still on Good Terms

Despite recent speculation to the contrary, there are reportedly no issues between WWE and world heavyweight champion Roman Reigns.

According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t WrestlePurists), there is no internal concern within WWE or parent company TKO about Reigns' status.

Since beating CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 42, Reigns has been a consistent presence on WWE programming, and he is set to defend the title against Jacob Fatu in the main event of Backlash on Saturday.

Reigns is also advertised for multiple episodes of Raw coming out of Backlash, plus the May 31 Clash in Italy premium live event.

However, The OTC is no longer advertised to appear on episodes of Raw in June prior to the Night of Champions premium live event despite previously being advertised to appear.

That led to rumors and speculation about a potential issue between Reigns and WWE, but PWInsider.com (h/t Wrestle Ops) reported that Reigns being advertised for those June dates in the first place was a "clerical error."

Fightful added that the rumors were "unfounded," and noted that Reigns is "still factored into WWE creative in a huge way."

While that doesn't include any June dates currently, it is probably safe to assume that he will be utilized heavily during the build toward SummerSlam on Aug. 1 and 2.

Reported Expectations for Cena's Backlash Announcement

John Cena is scheduled to make an announcement at Backlash on Saturday, and it is reportedly believed internally that it will be in relation to a new WWE initiative.

According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Wrestle Features), the expectation is that Cena's announcement will be about Club WWE, which is a new fan membership program.

Per WrestleVotes, there are "high expectations" for Club WWE, and there is hope that attaching Cena to it will help establish it as a successful venture.

There had been some speculation that Cena would make an announcement regarding a future WrestleMania location, but a source told WrestleVotes that is "probably not" the case.

Next year's WrestleMania 43 is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but future locations are unclear beyond that.

Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t WrestlePurists) reported last week that Nashville submitted a bid of $3.5 million plus tax breaks to host WrestleMania 44 in 2028, though.

Cena retired from in-ring competition in December, losing to Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event in the final match of his illustrious career.

He served as the host of WrestleMania 42, though, and Cena will be front and center once again at Backlash in a non-wrestling capacity.

Big E Reportedly Staying with WWE Despite New Day Departure

Despite the recent departure of New Day members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods from WWE, Big E is reportedly expected to remain in the fold.

According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t WrestlePurists), the expectation is that Big E will continue in his role as a premium live event Kickoff Show host moving forward.

The 40-year-old veteran has not wrestled since 2022 due to a serious neck injury, but he has remained an important figure within WWE as a host and ambassador.

Per WrestleVotes, Big E is "viewed internally as a valuable presence and is seen as a key reason for the Kickoff Show's success."

Big E was a founding member of New Day along with Kingston and Woods, and he contributed to them being one of the most successful groups in WWE history.

New Day holds the record for most WWE tag team title reigns with 12, and Big E was part of eight of them. Big E also held the Intercontinental Championship twice and parlayed a Money in the Bank ladder match win into a WWE Championship reign as well.

The wrestling world was shocked last week when Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp reported that Kingston and Woods mutually agreed to part ways with WWE.

It was later reported by Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News) that Kingston and Woods chose to leave rather than taking a pay cut.

While their departure marked the end of an era in WWE, it appears as though New Day will still have a presence in the company through Big E.
