Final Predictions for Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu Full WWE Backlash 2026 Match Card
WWE Backlash takes place this Saturday, and the post-WrestleMania premium live event has a couple of matches that are more interesting than most of what we got on the 'Mania card.
After months of start-stop booking, Asuka and Iyo Sky will finally step into the ring, but they will have to do it without Kairi Sane, who had been an integral part of the story until WWE released her in April before the story was finished.
Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu will fight for the World Heavyweight Championship, Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker will take their feud to the next level, and Sami Zayn will attempt to regain the United States title from Trick Williams.
And Danhausen will compete on a WWE PLE for the first time when he and a mystery partner take on Kit Wilson and The Miz.
Let's go through each match and make some predictions.
Iyo Sky Will Best Asuka
1 of 5
The feud between Sky and Asuka is built on their shared history as well as the mentor-protege relationship they once had.
However, the feud was originally centered around Sane being mistreated by Asuka while Sky was attempting to help her see how abusive The Empress of Tomorrow was being.
Releasing Sane came as a shock to many, especially because she was at the center of this entire storyline for months. Not only did it take the wind out of this feud's sails, but it upset a lot of fans who saw her release as unnecessary.
With this storyline already having taken up so much time, it's doubtful it will continue past this event, which means whatever result we get here is meant to wrap it up.
Sky defeating Asuka is the only satisfying conclusion. Unless WWE rehires Sane and decides to bring the story full circle, The Genius of the Sky is leaving Backlash with a W.
Prediction: Sky defeats Asuka
Seth Rollins Will Win, but Bron Breakker Will Have the Last Laugh
2 of 5
Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker are both back after spending time on the shelf with injuries, and now they are set to do battle at Backlash.
Breakker still has The Vision backing him up, but Rollins seems to have some new allies in The Street Profits to watch his back, so the fight is not totally one-sided.
The end of this feud should see Breakker come out on top if WWE wants to build a new star, but since this probably isn't the last match they will have, giving Rollins the first win makes the most sense.
The Visionary is a veteran and a multi-time world champion. Nobody will bat an eyelid if he is victorious, but Breakker will likely take him out after the match to set up another encounter at Clash in Italy.
Prediction: Rollins defeats Breakker
Trick Williams Retains, Sami Zayn Goes Full Heel
3 of 5
The slow heel turn of Sami Zayn has been interesting to watch, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's been well-executed.
All of the gingerbread man stuff has made this story feel childish, and not capitalizing on the crowd's reaction to both Trick and Zayn sooner has made it feel like it's taking way too long.
This weekend, there is no doubt Williams will retain the U.S. title, but what happens after the match is going to be the interesting part.
Unless WWE drops the ball completely, the best way for this to end is with Zayn embracing his heel side and no longer pretending to be an oblivious babyface who is wondering why the crowd is booing him.
A vicious attack to the retaining champion and his friend, Lil Yachty, is going to cement both men in their new roles, and hopefully it will also close out this story so both men can move on.
Prediction: Williams retains
Danhausen Will Be Victorious
4 of 5
Danhausen will have his first real PLE match this weekend when he and a mystery partner battle Kit Wilson and The Miz.
There is no doubt that the curse-casting goofball is going to win, but who he chooses to be in his corner is what most fans are curious to see.
WWE can go a few different directions with this. It can have him pick someone who is funny like he is, someone more serious, or it could be somebody completely out of left field. In our opinion, the serious option is best.
Someone like Oba Femi or Royce Keys would be an excellent choice if WWE wants to contrast Danhausen's comedy with someone dangerous. Plus, both men could benefit from being on the Backlash card to continue building momentum.
There are also more surprising serious options like Ilja Dragunov, or even CM Punk, who fans know has a real friendship with Danhausen.
Regardless of who it is, Danhausen will get a very nice, very evil victory.
Prediction: Danhausen wins
Roman Reigns Retains
5 of 5
Out of all the matches on Saturday's card, the World Heavyweight Championship bout feels the easiest to predict.
Reigns won the title from Punk at WrestleMania less than a month ago, and there is no way WWE is going to have the guy who held his last belt for over 1,000 days serve as a transitional champion.
This bout will be structured in a way that makes Fatu look like a badass before he eventually loses, possibly due to interference from one of his other rivals.
Drew McIntyre and Solo Sikoa are the two most likely candidates to cost Fatu the win if WWE decides to go that route, but The Usos helping out The Tribal Chief is also an option.
No matter how we get to the ending, the conclusion is going to be Reigns keeping his title.
Prediction: Reigns retains
