New WWE Rumors on Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods' Exit, Full List of Superstar Departures
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods of the 12-time tag team champion New Day are reportedly leaving WWE.
According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, Kingston and Woods mutually decided to part ways with the company on Saturday.
Sapp also reported that JC Mateo and Tonga Loa of The MFTs are among the latest WWE departures after several talents were released last week.

Kingston, Woods and Big E formed New Day in 2014, and they went on to become the most decorated tag team in WWE history.
In addition to holding tag team gold a record 12 times in WWE, their 483-day reign as Raw tag team champions from 2015 to 2016 is also a WWE record.
When Big E was sidelined with a significant neck injury in 2022, it left Kingston and Woods as the sole active members of New Day, but they never achieved the same level of success they did earlier in the team's tenure.
As part of a 10th anniversary celebration for New Day in December 2024, Kingston and Woods turned heel on Big E, and they remained heels until their departure.
While Kingston and Woods did beat The War Raiders for the World Tag Team Championships last year at WrestleMania 41, they dropped them to The Judgment Day two months later and never won championship gold again.
Grayson Waller joined forces with New Day several months ago, and with Woods out of action since January due to injury, Waller had been teaming with Kingston.
However, Waller was on his own in a loss to Oba Femi this week on Raw, which may have foreshadowed the departure of Kingston and Woods.
In addition to the tag team success Kofi and Woods have enjoyed over the years, they also had their fair share of individual achievements in WWE.
The 44-year-old Kingston signed a developmental deal with WWE in 2006 and made his main roster debut in 2008.
He went on to become a four-time intercontinental champion, three-time United States champion and 14-time tag team champion during his 18-plus years on the main roster.
Most notably, Kingston beat Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35 in one of the most memorable and emotional moments in WWE history.
The 39-year-old Woods signed with WWE in 2010 and made it to the main roster in 2013, and while he never won a singles title, he was the 2021 King of the Ring.
Woods also created the hugely popular UpUpDowDown gaming channel on YouTube in partnership with WWE, and it is fair to wonder what Woods' departure means for the future of the channel.
While the next step for Kingston and Woods isn't yet known, AEW star MJF seemed to allude to them in a post on his Instagram Stories, writing, "It's a new day... yes it is."
AEW seems like the most logical landing spot for Kingston and Woods since fans have long fantasy booked them against the likes of AEW executive vice presidents The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega.
FTR and the team of Adam Copeland and Christian Cage also reside in AEW, presenting New Day with several matches and rivalries that could potentially intrigue them.
While perhaps overshadowed by Kingston and Woods, Mateo and Loa are also significant departures given their status as members of a major stable on SmackDown.
Loa, 42, returned to WWE in May 2024, aligning himself with Solo Sikoa and his brother Tama Tonga.
He was previously under contract with WWE from 2009 to 2014 under the names Tonga, Agent T, Donny Marlow and Camacho.
Loa enjoyed enormous success with New Japan Pro-Wrestling after leaving WWE in 2014, holding the IWGP Tag Team Championships seven times with Tama Tonga.
During his second WWE stint, Loa held the WWE Tag Team Championships one one occasion with Tama as well.
The 43-year-old Mateo made his WWE debut one year ago in May 2025, immediately joining The MFTs at Backlash 2025.
Mateo wrestled under his real name, Jeff Cobb, for many years in NJPW, ROH and other promotions before joining WWE, holding the NEVER Openweight Championship, NJPW World Television Championship, IWGP Tag Team Championship and ROH World Television Championship.
He also had a memorable run as "The Monster" Matanza Cueto, holding the Lucha Underground Championship once.
Kingston, Woods, Loa and Mateo join a host of WWE departures that were reported by Sapp last week, including Kairi Sane, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, The Motor City Machine Guns and all members of The Wyatt Sicks.
