WWE SmackDown Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from August 6

Erik BeastonAug 7, 2015

The build to SummerSlam continued on Thursday night, with Roman Reigns making the greatest impression on fans en route to becoming the night's biggest winner.

The juggernaut addressed his rival Bray Wyatt ahead of the summertime spectacular, then turned his attention to Rusev, his opponent in the night's main event.

Speaking of that heavyweight collision, Reigns scored a huge victory over The Bulgarian Brute, becoming just the third person to cleanly pin him.

The announcement of a huge tag team match pitting Reigns and friend Dean Ambrose against Wyatt and Luke Harper at SummerSlam ensures that the second-generation star will be part of a meaningful and marquee match at the second-biggest event of the year.

Who joined Reigns as a winner on Thursday's broadcast? Which unlucky stars were the biggest losers of the night?

Let's take a look.

Winner: Mark Henry

After months spent jobbing out to the likes of Big Show and Ryback in uninspired matches, it was nice to see Henry spotlighted in the manner that he was on Thursday night.

The recipient of the hot tag, Henry picked up the victory with the World's Strongest Slam.

A veteran who has done everything asked of him over the course of his 19 years with WWE, Henry may be on the downside of his career, but he certainly deserves better than his recent treatment at the hands of Creative.

As an attraction, he still has a lot to give, and the pop he received upon his entrance is proof of it.

While it is unlikely that this is the start of better use of the former Olympian, it was a fine example of a future Hall of Famer being treated with the respect he deserves, making him one of the night's winners.

Losers: The New Day

While Mark Henry was one of the biggest winners of Thursday's broadcast, the team that bumped around for him found itself on the opposite end of the spectrum.

The New Day continued its losing streak despite showing off some tremendous tag team chemistry with innovative double-team maneuvers.

Kofi Kingston is so vastly improved as a heel, toning down some of the clunky offense he displayed as a babyface, while Big E is the powerhouse of WWE's future. Xavier Woods is a natural heel, a yapping manager type who can take bumps and work with the best of them.

The trio deserves better, if for no other reason than the fact that it is far more over than it should be based on the disastrous start to its partnership earlier this year.

Creative should focus on protecting one of the few legitimate heel acts the company has to offer, but over the last two months, it has seen fit to let The New Day wallow away, losing more than it wins and cooling off tremendously.

Winners: The Divas

Once again, the women of World Wrestling Entertainment proved that if you give them time and the opportunity to prove themselves as serious in-ring workers, they will deliver a quality match.

On Thursday night, Charlotte and Becky Lynch battled Naomi and Sasha Banks in tag team action. The match lasted 15 minutes and showcased the talented women involved.

Most importantly, Naomi scored a relatively clean win over Charlotte, winning back some of the credibility that she had lost with every defeat over the last two months.

The feud between the three Divas factions has gone a long way toward legitimizing women's wrestling in WWE.

While fans may still be struggling to adjust to the shift in tone of the division, the more they are exposed to Divas delivering the type of match the four women did on Thursday night, the easier they will find it to eventually get behind the high-profile matches and increased television time for the show-stealing, breakout stars of 2015.
