Warriors Insider Floats Andre Iguodala, More as Possible HC Targets Amid Steve Kerr Exit Rumors
If Steve Kerr doesn't return as head coach of the Golden State Warriors, the organization could go through an extensive search for a replacement with one insider suggesting several possible names to keep in mind.
Tim Kawakami of the San Francisco Standard noted the front office could opt for a "younger, development-minded candidate with some background using analytics" to replace Kerr if he steps down, with Warriors legend Andre Iguodala cited as potentially fitting that criteria:
"Well-regarded current assistants who could fit that model: Micah Nori (Minnesota), Chris Quinn (Miami), Sean Sweeney (San Antonio), and Johnnie Bryant (Cleveland). Other names, some more realistic than others: Current defensive coordinator Jerry Stackhouse, current offensive coordinator Terry Stotts, Boston assistant Sam Cassel, TV analyst Brent Barry, and my outside-the-envelope candidate … Andre Iguodala."

Florida HC Responds to NBA Rumors
After the Warriors' season ended with a loss to the Phoenix Suns in the play-in tournament, cameras caught Kerr sharing a moment with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
Kerr then said during his postgame press conference that he planned to take a little time to think about his future, while also discussing things with Warriors governor Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr.
There is a belief within the NBA that Kerr will step down as the Warriors move closer to a transition phase with Curry and Green approaching the end of their careers.
Of the potential replacement candidates cited by Kawakami, Iguodala is the only one with no prior coaching experience of any kind. He spent eight of his final 10 seasons as a player with the Warriors, winning Finals MVP in 2015. His No. 9. jersey was retired by the franchise in February 2025.
Barry has one season as an assistant with the Phoenix Suns in 2024-25.
Nori, Quinn, Sweeney and Bryant have all been popular head coaching candidates in recent years, though they have yet to be hired for a job.
Kawakami also floated the idea of Mike Brown being someone the Warriors would have interest in bringing back if he were to be fired by the New York Knicks, though that would seem unlikely since he is in his first year with the club.
Brown spent six seasons as an associate head coach on Kerr's staff from 2016 to '22, winning four NBA titles during that span.
Kerr has been Golden State's head coach for 12 seasons. He is the all-time franchise leader in wins (604), winning percentage (.631) and playoff wins (104), leading the Warriors to four championships.
