Lindsey Vonn Says She's 'Closer' to 'Getting My Life Back' After Gruesome Injury at 2026 Olympics
Lindsey Vonn is still just a few months removed from a gruesome leg injury at the Milano Cortina Olympics, but the legendary skier is making progress in both the physical and mental toll the injury took on her.
"It's definitely been a tough two months, but I feel like I've kind of hit some nice milestones recently, and am getting closer to being back to the real world and getting my life back," Vonn told People's Gillian Telling.
Vonn suffered a broken leg during the women's downhill competition in February that required multiple surgeries. A few weeks after the crash, Vonn described the recovery as "dark and hard and unrelenting."

"My physical battle began the second I got hurt but the mental battle started today," Vonn wrote on Instagram. "It hit me like a ton of bricks. It's a battle I'm used to because I've done it so many times. I have always learned from every injury. Each one has made me a better and stronger person in different ways… but the battle of the mind can be dark and hard and unrelenting."
Vonn has not clarified whether she plans to retire or try to return to skiing, though she did say earlier this month that she "can move on" from the sport following the injury.
