Bleacher Report catches you up on the latest news from the WWE Universe.
Jey Uso, Cam'ron Discuss Viral Confrontation
Both Jey Uso and rapper Cam'ron discussed what led to their shocking fight on the It Is What It Is podcast on Thursday.
After being interviewed on the show, Jey returned to the set, pulled Cam'ron over the desk and threw punches before the fight was broken up (beginning at the 15:00 mark of the video):
Jey seemed to take issue with Cam'ron criticizing him for being on the WrestleMania 42 Night 1 card rather than Night 2.
During a subsequent appearance on Nightcap with NFL legends Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson (beginning at the 1:44:00 mark), Uso suggested that Cam'ron's lack of respect led to the incident (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News):
"First off, I met him—he was on that damn wheelchair. I was like, 'What was wrong with you,'" Uso said. "The vibe was a little off, man. I've still got love for Cam'ron and the podcast, but I just told him a couple of times—be respectful, man. He wasn't being respectful. So he had to feel that."
Cam'ron also addressed the squabble during Friday's edition of It Is What It Is (h/t Carrier), while explaining Uso's line about a wheelchair:
"Listen, first of all he's talking about my scooter," Cam'ron said. "I'm in a casino all day. The casino's big. I like to ride around all day on the scooter. If I wanna ride around on the scooter that ain't got nothing to do with him. He just seen me on the scooter and assumed something was wrong. As you can see Jey I was up and ready. ...
"Now you want to use me for a publicity tour, when you got WrestleMania this weekend. I know I'm the biggest name that you've had a fight with in a long time. I'm probably the biggest name that you've ever had a fight with, because you're not your father. You're not The Rock. You're the weakest in The Bloodline, Uce, and we'll see what happens at WrestleMania. I can't tell you what's going to happen, but I will tell you that something is going to happen."
Cam'ron also suggested that he is going to be present at WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, saying, "I'll see y'all this week at WrestleMania, I'm pulling up, I'll be there."
After beating Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship last year at WrestleMania 41, Jey is returning to his tag team roots this time around.
In the opening match of the entire card on Saturday, Jey will team with his twin brother, Jimmy Uso, and LA Knight in a six-man tag against Logan Paul, Austin Theory and streamer IShowSpeed.
Punk Responds to Reigns' Scathing Promo
After Roman Reigns took aim at CM Punk in a passionate promo on Thursday, Punk clapped back during an interview on Friday.
Appearing on ESPN's Get Up (beginning at the 3:55 mark), Punk gave Reigns his proverbial flowers, but also vowed to make him pay on the Grandest Stage of Them All (h/t WrestleTalk):
"I wish he brought that energy the days he actually decided to show up on a couple of Mondays," Punk said. "Look, I take nothing away from Roman. Tremendous superstar, he has the credentials, he's a heavyweight, he's gonna be a tough out for me, but I'm not looking to lose on Sunday.
"I'm sure he isn't either. But this is about pro wrestling versus cinema and I'm glad that he had four days to shower and think about what he would say to me in a rebuttal and did it in a car while I wasn't around. But I'm gonna be around and in his face on Sunday. I'm gonna send him to the orthodontist, I'm gonna make his orthodontist a very rich person."
On Thursday, Reigns posted a two-and-a-half-minute video on his X account in which he had some less-than-flattering things to say about the reigning world heavyweight champion:
During the passionate promo (h/t Derek Holloway of Ringside News), Reigns didn't hold back in his criticism of Punk, and offered a rebuttal to some of Punk's recent comments on Raw.
"You defended the title three times. You've had it the whole year," Reigns said. "You're not a fighting champion—you're not even a fighter. We've seen how that went. Coddled by management? Because I'm money? And they've known that since the beginning—I told them. I'm an unsigned billion-dollar check. Go back and find it—it's in the archives. You don't have that type of confidence because you're not that kind of man I am. You're not cut from the same fabric as me.
"It blows my mind that you think we're f--king equals. In what way? It's only going to take the first couple of minutes for the whole world to see there's no way we could ever be on the same level. Coddled? The whole industry coddles you just by having you in it.
"You talk about the old-timers? Those were tough guys. We've seen what happens when you try to be a tough guy. We put our whole reputation on the line for you because what—a hundred thousand internet marks loved you from the beginning? Let's go back to your journeyman days on the indies—it was the s--ts. An embarrassment. There's not a legend in my family that respects you. You're the reason we don't let marks in the business. Keep my f--king name out your mouth. On Sunday, it ends for you."
The start of the Reigns vs. Punk WrestleMania rivalry started with a scathing promo on Raw several weeks ago, and they put a bow on it this week on Raw by telling their truths and acknowledging their hatred for one another.
On Sunday night, Reigns and Punk will headline Night 2 of WrestleMania 42 in the main event, and the result of their match could completely change the direction of the company moving forward.
Regardless of their feelings about one another, Reigns and Punk are undoubtedly two of the biggest stars WWE has to offer, and their match is the most highly anticipated one of the weekend for many.
Reported WrestleMania Plans for Cena, Danhausen, Jelly Roll
Aside from the 13 matches currently scheduled for the two nights of WrestleMania 42 this weekend, WWE reportedly has plans in place for some other big names.
Since making his WWE debut in late February, Danhausen has established himself as one of the company's most popular performers thanks to his humorous backstage antics.
According to BodySlam.net (h/t Wrestle Features), there has been internal discussion about Danhausen making multiple appearances during WrestleMania, including a segment with recently retired WWE legend John Cena, who is serving as host of the show.
This comes on the heels of WrestleVotes on Fightful Select (h/t Felix Upton of Ringside News) reporting that WWE is planning for Danhausen to be involved with a Goodyear blimp flying over Allegiant Stadium for WrestleMania.
That would be in reference to Danhausen's first backstage segment with Raw general manager Adam Pearce, when he read his list of demands, which included a blimp.
Additionally, country music star Jelly Roll is expected to have a WrestleMania presence, with PWInsider.com (h/t Wrestle Features) reporting that he will be "taking part" in WrestleMania 42 in some capacity.
Jelly Roll appeared on last week's episode of SmackDown and took issue with Pat McAfee for involving himself in the rivalry between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton.
Orton attacked Jelly Roll, which distracted Rhodes enough to allow Orton and McAfee to incapacitate him and steal his WWE Championship belt.
As a result, it seems entirely possible that Jelly Roll will have some level of involvement in the Night 1 main event between Rhodes and Orton, perhaps as an equalizer to McAfee.
