WWE WrestleMania 42 Predictions for Most Likely Swerves

Erik BeastonApr 14, 2026

If there is one thing WWE has taught its audience on the road to WrestleMania 42, airing live from Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, April 18 and 19, it is to expect the unexpected.

The entire creative process leading into the event has been one massive swerve, with developments no one expected, keeping the audience guessing as to what will happen next.

For better or worse.

Ahead of this year's Showcase of the Immortals, these are the most likely swerves, including successful title retentions, double turns, and a Hollywood celebrity that actually wins audiences over with his performance.

Stephanie Vaquer Retains Her Title

All signs point to Liv Morgan winning the Women's World Championship at WrestleMania.

She won the Royal Rumble in January, crossing that accomplishment off her bucket list. She released her first song and music video, "Trouble," on Monday afternoon. Perhaps most importantly, she has flashed an intensity throughout the rivalry with Stephanie Vaquer that fans have never seen out of her.

Still, despite the momentum on her side, Morgan's win is not a guarantee.

La Primera has been the women's world champion for over 200 days and is one of the elite performers in the women's division. While dropping the title and going on the chase would be a benefit for her, so would continuing a reign that has established her as an elite member of the division.

Triple H has exhibited a clear like and appreciation for lengthy title reigns thus far in his creative regime, so a scenario in which Vaquer bucks the expectation and retains the title is not out of the equation. Nor should it be.

IShowSpeed Impresses

From what we have seen of IShowSpeed in his WWE appearances before WrestleMania 42, he has impressed. Whether it was taking bumps as Logan Paul's Prime Hydration mascot or enduring a spear from Bron Breakker that damn near took him out of his Crocs at the 2025 Royal Rumble, the YouTuber has not shied away from physicality.

That he has some in-ring talent as a result of training under Randy Orton for Speed Goes Pro only enhances the likelihood that the longtime fan will show up for his Six-Man Tag Team Match alongside Paul and Austin Theory against The Usos and LA Knight, and show out.

He may not be Paul, who picked up wrestling incredibly quickly, but Speed will impress and have social media buzzing about a better-than-expected performance that begs the question: Does he have more in-ring appearances in him?

A Double Turn

SmackDown

The WWE Universe has done as it has for decades, growing tired of Sami Zayn as the plucky, underdog babyface and greeting him with jeers in arenas around the country entering WrestleMania 42.

Instead of rooting for the beloved, future Hall of Famer, they have thrown their support behind the flashy new toy, the uber-charismatic Trick Williams.

The former NXT performer is a Superstar in the making, someone who can carry the future of the organization on his back. He challenges Zayn for the United States Championship Sunday at WrestleMania 42, and a rare double-turn should not be out of the equation.

Look for WWE to make the fans' reactions official, switching Zayn to heel and turning Williams babyface as they look to make the changes that best fit what the audience wants.

We witnessed one of the greatest WrestleMania double turns in WWE history at WrestleMania 13, where Bret Hart and Steve Austin switched sides. While nothing may ever approach the success of that angle, do not be surprised if Sunday's broadcast is just the start of Williams' meteoric rise as a babyface on WWE's main roster.

CM Punk Retains Against Roman Reigns

Like Liv Morgan, Roman Reigns appears destined to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania by hook or crook. The story to this point would seem to indicate, as would the chaotic creative surrounding both his match against CM Punk and the company as a whole.

With Pat McAfee championing making wrestling better, and Reigns referencing that iternerary Monday night during his go-home promo, could there be a massive turn that sees Reigns align himself with the ESPN host and SmackDown's Randy Orton to create a seemingly unstoppable power trip?

Sure, but what fans seem to underestimate is Punk retaining the title and ending WrestleMania as still the world heavyweight champion.

The Best in the World is around every week, established himself as a fighting champion before the road to WrestleMania kicked off, and is doing some of the best work of his career.

Capitalizing on that and booking him to leave Las Vegas with the title is a very Triple H move, especially when it comes to bucking expectations.
