WrestleMania Dream Matches WWE Is Denying Fans
WrestleMania 42 is just days away and the two-day card is taking shape, but excitement levels are low as fans have been let down by the build to the marquee premium live event.
Triple H and WWE Creative have failed to build excitement for the biggest matches, instead depending on the midcard bouts filled with popular names to bolster the depth of the bill and give fans something to get behind.
Here are the WrestleMania dream matches WWE should have booked to make this year's event in Las Vegas feel more important.

Roman Reigns vs. The Rock
The biggest problem with the build to WrestleMania 42 is the lack of genuine excitement for the biggest match on the card: CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Punk and Reigns are two of the biggest names in the sport, but their interactions have felt forced, their storyline lacks real depth or substance, and neither man has stepped up his performance level to increase support for the feud.
Instead, they should be fighting in two separate dream matches for WrestleMania 42.
Reigns is the bigger star of the two performers, so WWE should have booked him in a feud with someone of his stature, namely The Rock.
With all the family ties and storyline angles regarding The Bloodline, Reigns vs. The Rock is the dream bout fans actually wanted.
The Great One is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and Reigns is the top dog in WWE, creating a natural tension that could have boiled over into a 'Mania match.
Fans are used to monumental moments like what they witnessed with Reigns and Cody Rhodes, and The Tribal Chief vs. The Rock would have come close to topping those, but Punk vs. Reigns won't be able to match that excitement level.
Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk
Just as Reigns deserved a better matchup with tangible storyline implications and history, Punk should be defending his World Heavyweight Championship against the man he has a long history with, Seth Rollins.
It's clear WWE was uncertain about Rollins' availability for The Show of Shows due to injury, but The Visionary is back in action—in a lackluster program with Gunther, who also deserves better—and he should be the man challenging Punk.
Not only do Rollins and Punk have legitimate history that the creative team can build off when booking the Road to WrestleMania, but Rollins also has the ability in the ring to carry the aging champion to a stellar match, something Reigns most certainly will not do in Las Vegas.
Punk vs. Reigns has felt forced from the beginning and missed the mark each week. Still, Rollins vs. Punk would have made sense from a storyline and an in-ring perspective, as well as helping ensure WWE would be successful coming out of WrestleMania, as a Reigns win will mean another part-time performer holding a major championship.
Brock Lesnar vs. Gunther
In the months leading up to WrestleMania, Gunther was one of WWE's biggest stars, retiring big-name performers such as John Cena and AJ Styles while putting on spectacular matches against everyone who stood in his way.
At WrestleMania 42, he will be relegated to a matchup with Rollins that has little significance to the WWE Universe. Injuries forced the company into this situation, but it is not the best use of The Ring General.
Rollins and Gunther should put on an amazing matchup, as both are skilled in-ring technicians, but that is not the best use of either performer. Instead, Gunther should be the man standing toe-to-toe with Brock Lesnar.
While there is no doubt Lesnar battling Oba Femi will help ensure the younger star has a bright future, the lackluster WrestleMania card needed something fans can really get invested in, and Gunther vs. Lesnar is a main event-worthy contest.
With fans interested in a matchup with an uncertain finish—Femi is almost guaranteed to win over The Beast Incarnate, and The Ring General will beat Rollins—WWE failed the fans by not booking Lesnar vs. Gunther at WrestleMania 42.
